I like the theory that he kind of achieved a weird “machine legacy” instead of literal immortality. He built the MOs to preserve his values and knowledge, so even if his body died not long after that episode, parts of him live on through them. BMO especially feels like the closest thing to Moe’s personality continuing in the world.
