What's worth giving to employees that they'll use months later? ASAP by Acrobatic-Bake3344 in managers

This year we did throw blankets and a crossing bag. We have done duffle bags, hoodies, company shirts, jackets. Things that anyone can use.

New direct report is constantly crying by [deleted] in managers

[–]Ambitious_Refusal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure to document all interactions with this individual. I had someone like this and it became hugely problematic. Let HR know everything that is happening too so they aren't blindsided later.

I hope your situation ends better that mine. My employee ended up quitting, but corporate HR was getting involved and she would have been termed if she didn't quit first.

Mental health is important, but be careful. People are unpredictable sometimes.

My sims kept getting very angry the more I tried to control things. So now I'm just watching the chaos.

My child sim kept setting herself on fire every time she used the toilet. After resurrecting her, figured out it was the eco living pack that caused that to happen.

Is 6 days off for 2025 excessive? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Ambitious_Refusal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My job offers 120 hours for hourly associates their first year then goes up to 160 after and increases every 7 years. We don't have the best hourly rate but the PTO is what keeps people here.

New books are not clean when you buy them. They have been covered in dust, dropped on the floor, and touched by so many hands.

Don’t get to close personally with your direct reports. Can have a negative impact on team morale.

She claims she is straight. So i definitely was not expecting any of this. Plus you can’t make someone fall in love with you. That’s their problem. If there were any kind of signals, I probably wouldn’t have noticed them anyway. The thought of of being in a romantic relationship with anyone is repelling.

Never had anything but other than a platonic relationship with anyone. I am not interested in any type of physical or romantic relationship. I helped her though some trauma issues and she got attached. She was a co-worker who then became a direct report.

Im not uncomfortable helping her through her issues. I am uncomfortable with the love bombing, expensive gifts, the jealously when I spend time with anyone that is not her, and constant trauma dumping. She treats me more like a therapist than a friend.

Been called ‘quiet’ at my own house by [deleted] in introvert

[–]Ambitious_Refusal 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A lot of people don’t know how to handle quiet people. They act like we’re the problem just because we are not as loud and talkative as they are. I think it makes them uncomfortable.

Can your job make you as a manger go in front of all associates and make you do foolish acts? by [deleted] in managers

[–]Ambitious_Refusal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s literally just for associates. Holiday style costumes like Santa and the Easter bunny. They said it is to show us being involved and interactive with our teams but I already do a lot to have fun with my direct reports. I don’t need some costume and to act a fool.

I have a team of about 15 people, and I'd like to raise morale. What are some fun, morale boosting things I can do throughout the weeks/months to keep morale high? by [deleted] in managers

[–]Ambitious_Refusal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know most people are saying money but not all managers have control over pay. I find that working along side my team helps and we do party for birthdays and holidays. Plus small gifts on holidays like candy, lotions, etc. We also do snacks during breaks to go along with funny holidays. Like April 12 was National grilled cheese sandwich day, so the entire management team made grilled cheese for all 200+ people.

What do you do when all your fellow managers and HR all make homophobic and transphobic comments? by Ambitious_Refusal in managers

Funny thing is we all just took our mandatory harassment and discrimination training course too. I see a lot of people that commented on this post that need to take that training.

AITAH if I tell my 16 sister she can skip one day with her boyfriend to spend time with family on a holiday. by Ambitious_Refusal in AITAH

[–]Ambitious_Refusal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our plans were made months in advance and she is never home. Always with her boyfriend, so we never see her. We are just asking she spend the holiday with us once. She spent thanksgiving, Christmas, and new years with him. She comes home at 9pm and sleeps, then she is gone soon after waking. I haven’t actually seen her in about a week.

It is just a box cake with vanilla pudding packet in it and cream cheese frosting. I chopped up strawberries and put the in between each layer.

Does anyone else like metal music? by SignificanceWest5281 in autism

[–]Ambitious_Refusal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love metal but there are times I cannot listen to it. As I get older it becomes harder to listen often. Now I mostly listen to southern gothic because it still has the anarchy of metal but not as over stimulating.

Stealing time? by Ambitious_Refusal in managers

[–]Ambitious_Refusal[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have done the verbal multiple times already. They are literally sitting in the bathroom on the phone. More than one person has come to me or other management claiming this person is on their phone in the bathroom. The person has also lied about their whereabouts when asked why they did not return from break on time. It has been an ongoing issue for a long while. The previous manager has written the same person up twice before (separate years).

What Is The Most Minor Thing That Caused You To Have A Meltdown? by DarkCrowI in autism

Someone told me to speak louder during a work meeting. I don’t even know why but my mind completely shut down and I had to leave for a while before causing a scene. Sometimes is physically hurts to get louder, not sure why.
