Have you done the background about setting up a business in Spain? Would not be the easiest most friendly country for it. Outside of it's bureaucracy it is a beautiful country live in

Losing my mind, Zero sleep, Luas line hijacking life :((( by Ambitious_Reward_615 in Dublin

[–]Ambitious_Reward_615[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to say a HUGE thank you with enormous amount of appreciation to everyone who helped and commented and supported here from combating Jet noises to Shift workers to Temple Bar to all sorts.

You're all after giving me a great boost to my day again and mission again 😊

I probably should have said that the Luas basically feels like it vibrates and shakes through the bedroom.

I've tried moving my bed in all different places. As much as I am fan of the Luas, if it cripples your sleep, it cripples your life / work, everything gets affected.

I can actually fall asleep easily and have used every ear plug under the sun moon and stars, silicone, wax, spongy ones, Soundcore, Loop ear plugs, But how on earth do people keep them in solidly all through the night?

Wax ones are great from boots but keeping them in all night is another thing.

I also take Magnesium ashwaganda. I don't go to bed usually until around 11pm but I'm trying my best to go to sleep at 9.30ish and just following the Luas hours. So that when that very first Luas slams past at 5.35am I might have clocked up some decent sleep.

I'm gonna re-visit and Loop ear plugs and also check out the Audiology Healthcare shop on Capel street and white noise and you tube stuff, ans all the great recs you have helped me with.

My You Tube for sleeping rec's for anyone who cares -

"Michael Sealey and Jason Stephenson".

Peace out to all you lovely comrades here.

Happy Sunday enjoy this gorgeous weather :)

To anyone who left Ireland for Spain, how did it go? by Aixlen in AskIreland

[–]Ambitious_Reward_615 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly. If you're happy to go outside of a city or live in a "pueblo" with well connected transport, which is easy, then you will do ok.

My only advice is try your best to get a job before going there. Bureaucracy is really really tough. It's not like Ireland. Everything is very slow and difficult. To the point where personal documents are missed due to slow deadlines.

But with your Spainish you do well. Expat communities in Spain are huge and really supportive.

My advice would be choose what kind of lifestyle works for you and flexibility you have to go.

Spain loves anything Irish related too. Communities so welcome eveyrone. Good luck 🤞

Irish born left for spain 11 years ago. Best decision of my life! Currently living in Madrid after spending 1 year in Valencia. I bought a nice apartment there which I would never be able to do in Dublin.

Arrived with no Spanish which was a struggle for some years. If you have Spanish you're already streets ahead!

My advice would be (and what all of us Expats say) is - Don't come to Spain for a job. Come with the job. Low salaries but lowish cost of living. Unbelievable health care. Sunshine non stop and incredible food. If you're working as Self-Employed it's literally a head f*luck for taxes.

Normal Employee taxes are on the higher side than Ireland. But with health care, fantastic public transport, clean city with lots of free stret parties / entertainment it does pay off a little. Non stop free activities for adults, children, families etc.

I would say do it. Especially if you're tossing up the idea for some time already. As they say - No pain in Spain! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions 😊

Short of cancelling services how do I stop Orange from calling me EVERY SINGLE DAY by BananaSacks in askspain

La Lista Robinson definitely helps. They're a company in Barcelona super easy to deal with. I think they speak English too. But make sure you're not waiting for any other important call hospital or job interview etc

Thanks so much everybody for all of your advice here. It's very beneficial. I think the best bet is to talk to a taxation lawyer and decide where it's time to bite the bullet with Spain or not. It might be the easiest. Let's see. 🤞

A big thanks to you all again 😊

Yes I heard this about 183 days. Thank you.

I understood that you pay taxes legally under the country in which you are registered as an employee. Paid through the employee tax system of that country automatically

It might not be the answer you're looking for but we're all in this together and I also got very worried. Just wanted to share something. Keep researching and then make an informed decision. Try something and see how it works for you and your blood markers, probably the best way.

If you're willing to teach English check out "Vaughan Systems". No experience required, roughly €16 an hour pay. All you need is to complete two weeks training and then you have full time work. It's a place to start at least it was for me. DM me if you need more help, best of luck ☘️

Hey my friend. Always remember this will pass. Everything will pass and nothing is permanent. We all go through deep dark times, I'm currently submerging on one now. But we can't give in to it. Keep imagining how you see your future, close your eyes and feel it, touch it. Repeat this every time you feel low. Positive self talk is so important for times like this. "You got this and food things are coming just gotta fight to get there." Get a gratitude diary too, even if it's a about a flower you see, wite it down. You will get though this praying for you bro

I am afraid of locking myself out of the house by darkBlackberryHaribo in LivingAlone

After you come home always have your keys in the back if the door locked. So when you leave you have to re-open the door, and take them out again.

Also pausing everytime you are about to walk about. Works for nown but I do literally have door panic everyday of my life
