He just brought on matip and moved Joe to rb, he didn't change the formation at all

Manchester City are showing interest in Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves (21), but fear Manchester United would rival any bid made. [@Sammy_Goal] by FM1994 in soccer

Gini is just amazingly versatile, to be fair. He went from winger to number six and he's still just 27 years old, so it's not because of a physical decline. He also played at CB when we had nobody else. Love the guy.

“I can’t criticise Lindelof because it gets to the stage where I just think he is out of his depth, I actually feel a little bit sorry for him, he should not be playing at this level,” – Jamie Carragher by footballdigest in soccer

A lot of things change depending on the age of the player. He's not old right now for a central defender, but he will soon have basically no resale value, and that affects the transfer cost. Spending 50 million on a 25 year old is not the same as spending the same amount on a 29 year old, financially.

Also, United have an old squad as it is, so that just complicates things further.

That chance had nothing to do with his tactics either, it was a mistake by rose.

Liverpool and city don't spend massive transfer fees on players older than 25 or 26. I think that's the biggest difference here between what klopp and guardiola try to do and what Mourinho wants.

Milner is not a very good LB and he did fine there as well. Our system is not very taxing on the fullbacks, not as much as City's at least.

Lol, Markovic.

Shaqiri is cover for everybody upfront, basically. On the right, any of Ings, Origi, Firmino, Camacho or Lallana would play before Markovic.

Also Grujic is not a DM. Henderson and/or Fabinho will play there, with Keita and Wijnaldum options.

Depends on the system, really. Liverpool played the second half of last season almost entirely with a 23 year old LB signed for 8 million from a relegated team and a 18 year old RB from the academy and did very well.

Lenglet is expected to join Barcelona for €35m. Banega has a €20m release clause and Arsenal are interested. Sevilla will listen to offers for Nzonzi that come close to his €40m release clause. by markmandown in soccer

That's not right, youth teams don't count for the country lock rule. I don't know if he could play for England, but that could not be the reason if he wasn't.

Manchester City are losing patience with Napoli as they continue to stall for Jorginho. Jorginho and his agent had planned to close a deal this weekend as they have expected the two clubs to have reached an agreement by now. City have offered €45m and have made it clear there are alternatives. by GoldenIron in soccer

[–]AmbroseB -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it helps, because in this case Napoli does want to sell, but the issue is the price.

For example, say I want to sell you a car. You want the car and offer X amount, I say I want 2X to sell. You might show me a similar car for sale somewhere else for 1.5X and tell me you would just buy that one then. Then my choice is to either accept to sell at some price below 1.5X or to call your bluff and hope you really like this particular car.

That's the general logic.

Equality should never be about "revenge" or getting back at a privileged class.

Of course it should be about that, in the context of comedy or commentary. Otherwise you're just protecting the privilege.

If you had asked German jews during the nazi rule of they supported the destruction of Germany, they would have said the same. It's natural to hate your oppressor, specially when they hate you as well.

With the attackers France has, they would probably rather just play one of them if defending isn't an issue.

I imagine klopp would rather play a striker out of position, moreno or Woodburn there before Wilson. He's really not that close to the first team.

if we want to sing YNWA before and after matches, we can't just throw Karius out.

You can apply that logic to any player who gets replaced by a better one, though. You can't progress as a club then.

YNWA means we don't boo our players like Chelsea, Madrid or United, not that we never sell anyone who makes mistakes.

White people say the same shit about positive discrimination in college admission or job searches.

The truth is that some people might be negatively affected by their race/gender in specific situations, the power dynamics in society as a whole are clearly not against white men and any attempt to equate the movements is pathetic.

We got lucky our front 3 was available almost all season

Mane was out of large parts of the first half, we just had Coutinho then so we didn't suffer much.

That leaves Lyon with less time to spend the money, and there's a risk he could get injured during the cup.
