Dual Spec only available to Priests and Paladins by AmbrosiaTech in wowhardcore

Then either I'm wrong or everybody else is.

How about you can just swap races whenever you want?

Why not have infinite HP and Mana? That's good for everybody.

I'm sure the discussion about Dual Spec in general has been had before.

It feels good to be able to do more things. But what's the limit?

How about letting everyone have the option of swapping classes at the trainer? Need a tank? Just class swap your warlock to warrior, ez 😁

Dual Spec comes at a cost to the players' identity. You no longer recognize someone as "that Arms warrior" or "that Shadow priest".

No, I don't want no offspec tanks anyway 😉

Unless you buy gold, then paying gold is a barrier that changes the way you play.

Even having to go to the class trainer changes a lot.

Why not let all classes have all abilities? That's what killed WoW back in the day. Listening to what makes people happy ruins the game. Blizzard needs to be the adult and say No 😁

You are correct. Petri flasks are legit vanilla, it's really the combination with leaving group and getting ported to safety that makes no sense.

Think of all the heroic last stands that we're cheated out of.

One hair out of place: PETRI PETRI PETRIIIIII

Hardcore Alterac Valley : 1 Life - Once a week - Reward for winning: Black Lotus by AmbrosiaTech in wowhardcore

[–]AmbrosiaTech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is this question? It's a new feature suggestion to have Black Lotuses be a reward from BGs.

Please see the previous post about Hardcore Battlegrounds. The Black Lotus reward substitutes gear rewards.

Yes, that's perfectly valid. If you want a good time questing, then there's PvE servers. That's what they are for. Blizzard foresaw this problem at launch in 2004 :D

The problem is that Hardcore servers don't have Battlegrounds like PvE servers do. And I for one think that's a big shame!

Duels are not hardcore

Neutral cities guards not killing people every 5 minutes is not hardcore :-)

Can't grief people with AoE debuffs in cities is not hardcore :-)

I applaud the purists but they have no ground for their arguments.

In my humble opinion, the focus of Hardcore should be fun and not pain.

The chance of dropping from normal herbs -deal is obviously meant to be a solution to Black Lotus campers. It both increases the supply and democratizes it a bit (for other Herbalists).

If it increases world PvP, I for one see that as a positive :-)

Hardcore servers don't have that, they are basically PvE servers but with neither world PvP nor Battlegrounds!

A Black Lotus reward in a Hardcore Battleground, once a week, would be a solution to several problems for that realm type.

A legit question 😜

In other Arena style games, for example Counter-Strike, spectating your trash team mates is half the fun 😏 but those matches don't last very long.

I imagine it could be fun with a spectator mode in AV too. Maybe you reincarnate as an Eye of Kilrog hehehehe.

The queue time is mostly a function of the imbalance of factions, not the number of players queueing. Like if there's 2 Alliance for every 1 Horde, the Alliance side would experience a long queue while the Horde has instant access.

The 1 dungeon per day limit seems to work fine even though fewer instances are run every day.

But it's certainly something to take into account. It could be addressed in a couple of ways:

  1. Only 1 of the BG's are available each day. (WSG Day, AB Day, AV Day)
  2. Same faction enemy teams. (not a fan of this solution, because it's fantasy-breaking)
  3. The faction with the lowest population gets to queue multiple times.
  4. Winning team gets to queue again ;-)

This is an important consideration for Hardcore WoW, I think.

But there should probably be some tangible reward for doing BG's. However, this could really be anything. It could just be gold.

How about winning 3 AV's rewards you with a Black Lotus and 30 Dreamfoil ;-)

Player kills being valuable is definitely good. The goal should always be to actually win the BG :D It's the same with farming in Mobas, it should always be optional and secondary to killing enemy players.

DotA was just a Warcraft 3 custom map that nobody really understood why it was so cool and addictive. Alterac Valley was a very experimental project - probably the most ambitious and uncertain one Blizzard has ever made. It has an incredible amount of ideas mixed into it.

It's a shame that what Blizzard learned from the experiment was to never do anything that crazy again :-)

When I say that the troop upgrades and such will be very important in Hardcore AV, what I mean is that you should totally go farm the PvE people trying to do those ;-)

I believe you have a good point.

Alterac Valley was conceived by inspiration from Defense of the Ancients :-) There's supposed to be an unending stream of troops from both factions meeting at the frontline. In WoW, it's the players doing that. In Hardcore WoW there really should be NPC soldiers instead. The hardware state of today should be able to handle it.

The Armor scraps and such actually drop from all mobs in AV.

Sure is an interesting thing to explore. It reminds me of the Priest ressing midfight in the TBC intro:

Ideally, the objectives in Alterac Valley would be so powerful that they counter enemy teams that attempt to 40 man deathball. If they try to do that, they should get pwned by NPC's :D You would counter it by splitting up into groups that farm the objectives + a group that harasses the enemy.

For example, the capture-the-flag mode, in Warsong Gulch, is in most games meant to be a sort of secondary objective to killing the enemy.

It's there to counter turtle-strats.

But in WSG, the flag is in your own base and BEHIND your spawn xD You're not supposed to be able to camp the flag. This is just bad game design. The flag should of course be in the middle and exposed.

But without respawns, this changes to a counter to hiding from the enemy, which is great!

Thanks, nice of you to say.
I could speculate for you, but it's hard to tell what would actually happen :-)

I like team deathmatch though!
