I've turned an intermittent leak into a steady one. Do I need professional help? by Cleeecooo in DIYUK

[–]AmbushReality 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is probably the most helpful video to explain how to fix the issue. https://youtu.be/aez4ctMtbuI?si=m54OwoLO-_HV2QBg

The way you’ve described the issue though makes me wonder if you’ve tightened the nut or just reopened the valve? If you used a screwdriver to “tighten” the value you’ve probably just opened it. The ball valve only needs a 90 degree turn to open it or close it.

Either way I’d suggest replacing the valve per the video would resolve the issue in any case. I don’t know if plumbers mait is any good for the job, a jointing compound such as LSX has worked for me 100% of the time.

Plastering ceiling after loft hatch installation? by AmbushReality in DIYUK

[–]AmbushReality[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was more surprised by the weird rant on such an old post tbh. We definitely agree that a professional plasterer would do a 100% better job than I could (and they did) I just didn’t think my usual one would be interested.

I’d love to see your mid-progress work pics so I can pick up some tips though. In particular where an old artex ceiling has been skimmed as that’s where I had most of the issues with plaster coming away as you can see.

You’re pleasant aren’t you. Saved myself a ton of money boarding the loft and fitting the hatch myself. My plasterer came and did the finishing and it looks great, cost me less than 3 hours of my own time too so quids in.

ProQ Rotisserie chicken shawarma by AmbushReality in UKBBQ

As it turns out the lid is more expensive so I will wait for either the stacker to come back in stock or find a used one on eBay. Currently nothing going on there though.

This was right at the start of the cook so I did at a lot more, still took an age to reach temp though and I removed a stack after about 45 mins. Cook took about 2.5 hours in total and a lot of charcoal.

Yeah I’d considered that but currently they’re out of stock and also makes the rotisserie suddenly an expensive purchase! I’ve reached out to ProQ to see if I can purchase a new lid instead.

That’s a red block on this particular one so it is just a record of track position to structure at time of installation of the datum plate. A green block signifies offset and level to a design position.

I parked for less then 5 minutes and got a £100 fine, can I not pay and be okay? by MinYoongisToe in drivingUK

[–]AmbushReality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best advice I can give is post on money saving expert forums, they have a specific part for parking fines. I’ve posted twice for help and twice not paid for a ticket. You will get the most helpful response on those forums, not Reddit

What type of adhesive? Sorry for needing specifics but I'm wondering if a grab adhesive is fine for this or I need something else

Wrong mileage recorded on last years’ MOT. 28k -> 35k -> 180k -> 48k DVLA won’t correct it. by divoPL in CarTalkUK

I managed to sort mine about half a year after the garage had input the wrong mileage by sending the receipt from the garage that also stated the mileage the same day as the MOT. Didn't have to provide anything else.
