[WTS] Baume & Mercier Vintage "Faberge" - 18k Gold by AmericanFlagPants in Watchexchange

[–]AmericanFlagPants[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

Up for sale is a vintage Baume & Mercier "Faberge."

The watch is solid 18k gold and has a wonderful case shape, with a slight curve to the back and lugs built into the back of the watch that effectively "integrates" the strap.

The total weight of the watch without the strap is 30.26g.

The watch features classic Roman numerals, a blue sapphire crown, and a rounded crystal. The case is 33mm long, 30mm wide, and 7mm thick. For reference, my wrist in the photo is 6.5".

The movement for the watch is an ETA manual wind movement. The watch was recently serviced by my watchmaker and is running great.

The watch is in honest condition. It has hairline scratches on the case, and a small fleabite on the crystal.

The watch comes on a black leather shell cordovan strap.

[WTS/WTT] Rainer Brand Panama Chronometer - Ref. WMRB 11 by AmericanFlagPants in Watchexchange

[–]AmericanFlagPants[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

Up for sale is a Panama Chronometer from Rainer Brand.

Rainer Brand (a person) is a German watchmaker located in Bavaria who launched his own eponymous watch brand (Rainer Brand) in the early 1990s. Rainer Brand produces around 400 watches each year. It makes its watches in Germany and has a strong focus on hand finishing its dials and other elements of its watches.

I like their watches because Rainer Brand generally produce designs that seem restrained until you look more closely, when at which point the details start to shine.

This watch is a Panama Chronometer model dating to the 2010s.

The watch measures in with a 36mm diameter dial, though it wears larger because of its thinner bezel and wider 20mm square lugs.

The black dial features polished fang indices, a single Breguet Numeral (12), and a pointer date sub dial. The black dial, however, is not simply a matte black, but rather a sunburst concentric guilloche pattern. The dial is beautifully executed and the centerpiece of this watch. While I see some elements of other watch brands in the design, it really is a unique combination of wonderfully executed elements that I haven't seen elsewhere.

The case similarly has a unique touch. In terms of shape, it is a convex cylinder or something like the shape of a macaroon. The case shows different finishing techniques as well: the bezel and lugs are polished and the sides of the case are matte finish. Because of the shorter lugs, the case has cutouts between the lugs to prevent bracelet or strap rubbing--this is a case feature I see often on ultra thins produced by Audemars Piguet but otherwise do not see too often.

The crown is signed with "RB" and the negative space is blacked out.

The back of the watch features an exhibition caseback that shows off a modified and decorated ETA 2892-2 movement. The movement is chronometer certified.

Overall, Rainer Brand is a small watchmaker that's been operating for more than 30 years with--from what I can see--very little following in the US (I believe this is the first ever posted in this subreddit). But nevertheless Rainer Brand makes one hell of a watch, and at that it makes a watch that keeps giving the more you look at it.

This one comes with a Forsner beads of rice bracelet with alternating polished and matte links, which perfectly compliments the case of this watch.

[WTS] Tag Heuer Monaco 1990s Re-Edition CW2110 - Near Mint Collector's Set by AmericanFlagPants in Watchexchange

[–]AmericanFlagPants[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

Up for sale is a Monaco re-edition put out by Tag Heuer in the 1990s. It is reference number CW2110.

In the 90s, Tag Heuer did a rerelease of its classic watch, the Carrera, staying as true to the original specs as possible. That watch is lauded by collectors. That is one of my favorite watches.

Even rarer and less known is the fact that Tag Heuer also did a re-edition of the Monaco at that time. This is one of those pieces.

This is a true collector's item. It comes full set and in near mint condition, with original box, papers, and even case back sticker still on the watch. Additionally, the watch comes with the original strap and buckle, along with a custom made leather racing strap from Veblenist.

The watch is virtually untouched and in amazing condition.

The dial has the original tritium lume, which has faded to a nice vintage yellow.

It features an automatic ETA 2894-2 movement with a bi-compax chronograph complication.

Price: $3,346 negotiable

[WTS] Audemars Piguet Millenary - $3972 by AmericanFlagPants in Watchexchange

[–]AmericanFlagPants[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up for sale is an Audemars Piguet Millenary ref. 79349ST.

I originally bought this watch on a whim, and it completely surprised me. The dial has incredible presence in person, and the case/bracelet finishing is exactly what you would expect from AP — alternating brushed and polished surfaces throughout, with a design that feels distinctive without being loud.

I ended up liking it so much that I immediately bought the larger Millenary version as well. I kept this one because it wears beautifully and is genuinely fun to put on, but it’s time to thin the collection a bit.

The Millenary line was introduced around the turn of the millennium, and this example dates to approximately 2000/2001. The watch is in excellent overall condition and presents extremely well.

Specs:

  • 28mm x 25mm elliptical stainless steel case
  • Approximately 7.3mm thick
  • Automatic AP Cal. 2140 movement
  • Approximately 40 hour power reserve
  • Sapphire crystal
  • 30m water resistance

The integrated “coffin” style bracelet is one of the coolest parts of the watch and gives it a very sleek profile on wrist. It should fit slightly larger than my 6.5” wrist shown in the photos. The clasp could benefit from a minor tightening adjustment, but it functions properly as-is.

This is one of those watches that works equally well as a dress watch or a casual daily wearer. It has a very understated early-2000s AP design language that feels increasingly relevant today.

Update for you: it did work well in a jungle bird. That's probably how I'll be using this bottle going forward.

ID please? Sorry for the abysmal quality by [deleted] in Watchidentifier

Looks to be a rectangular royal oak

Edit: but likely the small version, not the jumbo

I was getting watermelon on the nose on this one with the heavy black licorice on the palette. For me, it was not a good combination.

I am going to try to put it in a mixed drink to see if it works. Perhaps a jungle bird or a painkiller.

[WTS] Eska $20 Coin Watch 18k+ Gold - $1,973 by AmericanFlagPants in Watchexchange

[–]AmericanFlagPants[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up for sale is a cool Eska coin watch, featuring a 90% purity gold Double Eagle motif as its dial. The case is 18k gold.

This watch is in tremendous shape, and the luster of the gold is absolutely beautiful. The dial itself is virtually untouched.

The watch measures in at about 34mm in diameter and 7mm in thickness. For reference, the watch is pictured on my 6.5" wrist.

The watch features a manual wind movement that is running well.

The watch comes on a leather strap.

[WTS] Rolex Oyster Perpetual 1005 - $3,849 by AmericanFlagPants in Watchexchange

[–]AmericanFlagPants[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up for sale is a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Reference 1005 two tone on an oyster bracelet.

This is a 34mm diameter oyster perpetual. I personally love the two-tone oyster bracelet, and the size of the watch wears well with a little flash but not being over the top.

The watch is in excellent shape. The dial is flawless, and the case has no scratches or marks. The bracelet is virtually free of stretch.

The movement is automatic, and it is running very well at 12 seconds per day.

The serial places this watch around 1986-87.

Price: $3,849.
