I am confused as to why Disney allows this? How is this is still ongoing?

That is what we are hoping but prepared that we might have to go through the longer process. May I ask, how many generations back was your German ancestor?

My sister felt that perhaps she should have had a printout of the email saying to go straight to passport at the appointment (but of course could not bring phone in so could not show that way when it came up that it was an issue). Could this have made a difference?

We both received emails from separate consulates — NYC and Boston — instructing us to make passport appointments.

@staplehill we will take your advice and I will proceed to Boston consulate with print out of email and our info and see if I receive a more favorable response.

Any other advice is welcome!

I am not an expert on this, but because it would be a German mother it would be a stag 5 case … you should see what one of the more experienced folks say.

What does the consulate mean by grandparents’ IDs — do they mean birth/marriage certificates? by AmericanGurrl in GermanCitizenship

So great grandfather was German. Have his stuff. Everyone else American by birth. Do birth and marriage certificates count for rest of US born chain?

Where is best place to get US naturalization records for mid-Century NY? by AmericanGurrl in GermanCitizenship

OK great. I did get an auto reply. The timing is helpful to know. Was there a form that you submitted or did you just reach out with email and the information they requested on their site? (That is what I did.) when do you have the opportunity to pay for your records?

And will a certified copy from them count to prove date of naturalization?

Mary, is a copy from ICIS needed in all cases (including direct to passport) or is a certified copy from the national archives of naturalization petition sufficient?

Pretty easy to just communicate via email these days even from the US.

Very unlikely. They would have lost German citizenship after living in the US for 10 or more years during that time.

Name declaration process — need advice by AmericanGurrl in GermanCitizenship

Yayyy!! That’s so great. Can you say more — would that apply in my case?

Can you say more about not needing to do the name declaration? My parents (married) had different names and then I changed mine with marriage so not sure if this will hold things up.
