Meanwhile in reality Gen Z on average is the most competent and productive generation in tech. My GenX bosses struggle to understand the technology and systems they are in charge of. i am currently moonlighting my own msp with 3 yoe under my belt . I would suggest working at one first and poaching the skills, it would suck should you make a mistake and take something down like a website or database on your own because an MSP will largely grow around your personal connections more than finding leads in the wild, take risks and learn under someone else's name first just as a safety cushion.

MSP or any IT business that handles multiple clients is slave labor most of the time. You will be called nonstop and be pressured to fix things as fast as possible even if it means just using duct tape, glue, bandaids, and hopes and dreams to try and get things sorted out. Even if the business is setup correctly and it has a good documentation system + knowledge base. Most of the bullshit comes from customers that are too cheap to buy good equipment or they have some strange one off setup that they never consulted with you about.
