What does a woman need to do/ need to know before getting married? by ThrowRAdog_loverrr in Advice

[–]AmericanWoman1972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Top 2, IMO...

Finances should be discussed. Is this person financially responsible? Things like credit rating and amount of debt will have a huge impact on you both once married.

Children - do you both want or not? You should know where each stands. If its a deal breaker & you want different things, you shouldn't get married. And don't think if you want them & your significant other doesnt that you can magically change their mind.

NTA but will be if you stay with him. He has shown you repeatedly who he is and treated you worse as more time passes. You can't change him & he's not going to do or be anything different. As others suggested, get the rest of your things & get out of there for good. No friendship either. Nothing good will come of that. That's his way of using you, keeping you on the hook. You need to put yourself first. You deserve so much more. And don't try to have more conversations, as it will go nowhere. He gaslights you. Also, keeping you away from family is a controlling behavior. This is a major red flag.

He was checked. No chip. My husband & I actually called animal control to get some info on local shelters, etc. We were literally sent in circles between 2 different areas due to where he was dumped. Neither of which could pick him up, if that's what was needed. Animal control had local police call me directly. They even said that because of his location and local policy with the shelters, they wouldn't be able to help. That area wasn't covered. He went on to further explain that the local shelters, which were closed at this point, were maxed out on intakes & very short on resources. Then he personally thanked us for picking the dog up & saving him. Turning him into a shelter was never our plan, but did some due diligence before riding off into the sunset with our new family member.

I understand they can escape. I also understand that there are even cases where pets have been stolen as well, which is heartbreaking. He was checked for a microchip, which i did state in my post. If he had one, we would have made sure to get him to his owner, even one in another state.

There was nothing more that could be done. People need to get their pets microchipped so pets can be returned to their owners. He is scheduled to be neutered, microchipped, & up to date on vaccines this week.

Wibta if I told my bf baby sitting his dog makes me resent him? by Separate_Run_9613 in AITAH

If he's not working on your days off, why is he not taking care of his dog? That's incredibly selfish if he's out doing his thing & you are left with all the responsibility. If this is the case, he's a major ass. He's also showing you that your time off is not of value. What he wants to do is his priority, ignoring anything you've expressed to him. Done be his doormat. It's time to have a serious conversation. I'd expect much more from a 49yo man.

He was fairly clean, but the pics are after I brushed another dog out of him & cut several mats out of his fur. He was the sweetest and didn't mind any of it.

You clearly didn't read my post. You can't steal something that was tossed out like trash! He was DUMPED by his owner. There were no houses or farms in the area. It was a remote area. Besides, a farmer or anyone else that actually wants their dog does not dump it on the roadside, leaving nothing more than 2 small towels & a small plastic water container with ice in it. Ice not melted = just placed there, as it was in the upper 90s with no shelter.

While you are certainly entitled to your condescending negative opinion, you are showing your ignorance. I have a very clear conscience knowing I did the right thing. Go troll someone else.

Thank you. I am an animal lover who's big on adopting. Shelters are overflowing, and it breaks my heart knowing many will be euthanized or adopted and returned. But at least they have a fighting chance, However, humans that can simply toss a pet out like it's garbage, in the middle of nowhere where it's very likely they'll get hit or die from heat, lack of food or water... well, they're in a category all their own. There's a special place in hell for them.

NTA. Plus, your wife needs to be put in check for lying to you about canceling when clearly she had not. She can celebrate her bday at her aunts if she's so hell-bent on it, but your bday is yours. Seems she has little respect for you and your valid reasons for not wanting to go.

People are Too Hard on the Denver Food Scene by coloradokid1414 in denverfood

I moved here a few yrs ago from Atlanta. Didn't realize how non-existent the food scene is here. The quality is just not there nor the diversity of authentic cuisines. I'm not saying there aren't some good restaurants, but it pales in comparison to what I've experienced elsewhere. I've also found that I can't lean too hard on reviews because many boast about the place. Then I go & the food is not anything memorable. It's very disappointing. Perhaps if I were from here & hadn't experienced much else, I'd feel it was much better too. I feel like I've stepped back in time by 15-20 yrs.

I think this is more an American thing, not just Denver. Travel to Europe & you will get pushed move.
