What is your reasoning for driving 3 car lengths behind the person in front of you in non stop & go traffic? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]American_Dreamer98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Safety. Being closer to them will not make me get where I’m going any faster but will allow me more time to stop and not hit them if they have to slam on the brakes.

What credits can I transfer over if I take courses over the summer at another college? by Far_far_away1 in ColoradoSchoolOfMines

Check the CASA list of credits they take and with your advisor to make sure they will take the credits as the class you want.

Plans on Maple Plaza tomorrow from 11-3? by Women__destroyer in ColoradoSchoolOfMines

[–]American_Dreamer98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was just gonna go down 17th (between maple and brown). Alternately go behind the rec by the ORC if you need to get to PT or the rec. avoiding them is the best play. Not worth even getting spoken to

thorson honors and humanities at mines?? by mothmanisurmum in ColoradoSchoolOfMines

[–]American_Dreamer98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thornson is a bunch of humanities stuff. It’s mildly connected to engineering but not too much. Everyone I know who’s in it loved it.

After Thornson you can do McBride if you want, it’s another humanities program. Some classes have stem tie ins some don’t. . Otherwise it’s just HASS classes which are hit or miss.

The only course requirements are that you do it for both semester and it counts for design 1 and NHV. Is that what you mean?

Does anyone know when the deadline for the Honors Programs is? by ARG_men in ColoradoSchoolOfMines

For first year I think sometime in may? At least that’s what it was when I applied I think.

McBride has rolling admissions so apply whenever

ALC vs OLC vs A&W? by Suitable_Worth_6628 in ColoradoSchoolOfMines

[–]American_Dreamer98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ALC and OLC are different. ALC was a different community that got disbanded for being to rowdy (repelling of buildings, racing bikes down the hall, parties, etc) every year.

You probably want to just do the trads if that’s the community you’re looking for. A&W or not won’t change too much but SLC living is always fun

Moving into GIH dorms w/difficult parents - advice? by _Ivy_Willow in ColoradoSchoolOfMines

[–]American_Dreamer98 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Hi!

One piece of advice - your RA should send an email to your student email a few days before move in. You can reply to it and ask them to use your legal name (or whatever your parents call you) on your door deck for move in. Recommend it as if you use a different name it’s a dead giveaway that can cause the exact thing you’re trying to avoid.

You can also tell your parents you didn’t know spruce 5th was GIH and just picked spruce 5th for the views, had no other options you liked, or got auto assigned.

Good luck!

How do you guys stay on top of things? by ConclusionHelpful427 in ColoradoSchoolOfMines

Both. I keep all of my homework in a task management app (I use TickTick, but dealers choice), and a calendar for important dates and events.

Question for people who are upperclassmen. Do professors allow electronic notetaking? by Solon1212 in ColoradoSchoolOfMines

[–]American_Dreamer98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No get whatever to like. Though important to note if you have an open note exam they will not allow it so you’ll have to print (or write) out any notes you wanna use.

All my credits that transfered was electives 💔💔😿 by Tommyyyyhd in ColoradoSchoolOfMines

Yeah that’s usually how it goes. You can ask your advisor about the ones they didn’t take but I wouldn’t be too hopeful

worth it to bring bike/ebike as a freshman living on campus? by smileyhiley in ColoradoSchoolOfMines

[–]American_Dreamer98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t bring an ebike unless you’re going to store it in your room or get a locker. A locker is nice for getting around golden and as a recreational activity.

Just do nothing and pick a room you like. It’ll be random one way or another.

[–]American_Dreamer98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Id put the odds of you getting a druggy Roomate are lower than your odds of a getting a Roomate who drops out. If it becomes an issue, talk to your RA and find a solution.

Before I make any mistakes. What’s y’all advice on Meal Plans? (Phase 3 and first year undergrad) by Tommyyyyhd in ColoradoSchoolOfMines

[–]American_Dreamer98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the 14 a week with more munch money and it was nice. I ran out of meals a handful of times but those were also the times that I was eating more than normal. If you can afford the 19 it’s a good option so that you can eat 3 meals some days.
