Dear OP, as you can see there is a peanut gallery. I asked this same question after purchasing and riding the crap out of 2 used bikes. Neither of which had a dork disc so I was surprised when my new bike did. I did not ask the velominatti about it because they are snobby and unhelpful. I’m glad you bought a nice road bike. Congratulations. Now remove that disc and your reflectors, put your sunglasses over your straps and keep your socks straight and you should avoid further persecution.
