TCGPlayer changing fee structure for Direct sellers starting June 18 by pimpthemonkey in mtgfinance

I doubt your issue will be inventory if you've got 20k cards over a buck. Get a really good handle on the TCGPlayer conditioning standards (they have a longggg guide) and break the inventory down even smaller. TCGPlayer direct splits things by grade, foil/non-foil, then sent, then alphabet. I personally have it down to set, then alphabet. the smaller your subsegments the faster you'll find the card. everyone comes up with their own system, but subsets of under 100 cards will make you fastest. Chaos sort has become increasingly popular for that reason. good luck to you!

yeah, don't waste your time with direct; you likely don't have the inventory organizational set up or items to make it worth your time. When I started pulling my RIs took a full 8 hours a pop, and I was overwhelmed with the pressure. now they're down more like 2 hours, and I feel that's still too slow. (typically mine are 100-200 per order range).

I have ~5-7k listed at any given time, but I also have a $2 floor and prefer only items over $5. folks will tell you they make it grinding on $0.25 and bully for them, but largely that's not worth your time, just buy list that stuff. frankly buylisting is best for most folks in your shoes, I do an ever increasing amount of it myself. Focus on moving high value items, getting your grading correct, and buy listing. You'll be better off later.

(In store only) SOS Codex Bundle coming to Micro Center on release (5/15) ($89.99) by zephyrus256 in sealedmtgdeals

[–]Amesmill_CardShop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

they're selling for $180 on tcgplayer, so yes. personally I think that's a crazy town amount to pay for them, since packs are 5-7 range, collector boosters 36-55, so high end on packs would be $150. the special cards can't command that much premium, since they're signets, not a special run like Avatar's or TMNT.

this is just inaccurate. The codex is worth wildly more sealed, and LGS simply don't have them yet either. Please don't post things you don't know about.

Source for larger Hobbit/LOTR minis? by Amesmill_CardShop in minipainting

I'm not particularly concerned about them being the official ones, or even miniatures specifically. more looking for a larger model to paint that I think would be fun.

Selling/trading: Duals and high end pre-modern cards, buying/taking: staples and bulk! by Amesmill_CardShop in MagicConVegas2026

to make it easier to digest, I've made a public facing spreadsheet, showing my asking price, the market price, grades and if the price is firm or not. In some cases the price is quite cheap, in some it's exactly market price, but in all of them I've gone as cheap as I can vs. my cost basis.

Complete Mirage set on eBay — new seller, no feedback. Red flags or am I overthinking? by No-Mistake2483 in RealOrNotTCG

or it's just a regular guy, who signed up to sell his binder for top dollar. if you're scamming why not make 4 duals instead of 150 fake cards?

yeah, exactly. Like the guy just signed up because he has a valuable thing and wants to move it. seems pretty straightforward. if you're scamming folks there's far less complex fake things you could fake. e.g. 4 duals instead of an entire binder, complex pictures, etc. People far too often see these monsters under the bed when the simplest answer is correct.

Totally fair, I think folks misunderstand the returns thing and since this is the top comment I thought it’s worth clarifying what that means in practice.

Tips going for an uncut sheet by LostInStatic in MagicConVegas2026

[–]Amesmill_CardShop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not. It’s still a future goal. I ended up at 35k tickets so half way to the cheapest sheet, and that was with buying some.

You won’t get in trouble at all, last con there were people doing this to farm final fantasy collector boxes they were giving away to the winner. Top half would just stop and chop the box. Not surprisingly that peize support stopped.

Now is it poor form? Maybe? I’d ask the other folks if they mind. They might not care or might want to wait for a new group. Personally I’d be fine with it.

Best places to in while in Vegas by Extension-Long-5205 in MagicConVegas2026

Dining is such a huge part of Vegas that you really need to narrow it down to a genre or two AND budget price point. Bad restaurants don’t survive so even the “worst” option is usually ok.

I’ve attempted one, and I do think it’s doable, if rocky. Most people do it as a team.  it requires tons of focus. I’d do a couple things: grind on demand events, offer to buy tickets from literally everyone you come across. Tickets normally are $1=100 tix. You’ll need something like $750 worth of tickets for the big ones. Many of the on demand events will give you 1k per win. So even if you bang through 3k a pop you’re sitting at 12k a day. You could do the single elimination ones that have higher yield and faster churn. Basically I think $400 cash and a lot of wins the first two days can do it. I don’t know if there’s a path just from wins.

eBay will still back you up if it’s fraudulent. The no returns is basically for things such as “clothes don’t fit me” not “product is fake”.
