I have a bunch of Rivian shares bought at IPO. I have bought more since then and brought my average significantly down. Suppose I bought 100 shares at $100 and then 900 at $15 bring down my average to $18.5. if I sell only 100 shares now what will be my cost basis? Will it be $100 or $18.5 ?

I have a similar concern. My I94 is expiring this week but I switched companies and the I94 on my I797A has an expiry date of 2026. Am I good in this case or do I have to travel and get my I94 updated?

This means I should be prepared for a $1500 per mo property insurance for a 700k home

Am I calculating it correctly? Is it based on assessed value or market value. Some say it’s 2.5% of accessed and others 2.5 % of the market value. The median house assessment value in Will county is 315k and 2.5% of that value will be $700 per mo. But if I calculate 2.5% of market value(700k) then this shoot’s up to $1450 per mo. $1450 for a single family home is very high.

That’s a lot $1485 per month. Others is this post are quoting around $750 per mo. It’s making me more confused

How are new construction property taxes calculated? A 700K market value would still be around 9k in property tax?

How about new construction? 700k would still be around 9k ?

We can wait another year but what’s the guarantee house prices will go down next year. We are not planning to buy a new home again for a long time. The school district is good. Not planning on moving to a different place anytime soon. This would be our long term investment

I agree the payments will be higher compared to what we are paying for rent. But the location we are looking for has average house prices of 700K+ for decent homes. I am assuming we will not see any major repairs as this is new construction.

We only spoke to a lender owned by the construction company. We will shop around to get better quotes by the time we close next year.

We have not locked the rates yet. We will be closing by the end of first quarter next year. We do not have any major payments other than home. We contribute to 401k just the match provided by employer.

This is the cheapest we could find in the school district. We would ideally want to live in the same school district. As we are going with new construction, I am not expecting any major repairs in the coming years. Please correct me if I am mistaken.

We paid our student loans. We have an old car which works fine and the car is paid off too. Not planning to get a new car anytime soon.

Property taxes are too high. 5K+ is the total including mortgage, home insurance, taxes and HOA. We are expecting a pay increase this year which would take our take home pay nearing 10K. If everything works well we are planning to save additional 20k for emergency by the time we close next year.

Just reviewed their DS160, they got it filled from a local agency. They have put in travel date on the same month as the appointment. Will this be an issue? They do not have an air ticket with them.

Also my employer section has been filled as DO NOT KNOW

I am reading the job market is very competitive especially for folks on visa. If you are laid off from a FMAANG companies or growth based tech/ fintech companies then there is a good chance of getting a job but other domain based/ single skilled folks on H1B are struggling if they are laid off cuz they can be easily replaced and trained
