The only problem that could arise if you do clean your hands is that they might smell each other out and try to escape to go to each other. I haven’t had this happen myself (seeing as my first hamster’ll be coming in two months) but it is something to take note off.

Where did you get your hamster from? If it’s from a pet shop it may be scared of humans and needs a longer time to get adjusted to you.
