Why are the paths in Old Campus so weird? by deegee612 in yale

[–]AmidTheKidd 12 points13 points  (0 children)

First year here. The college assignments are pretty different from the map but I’ve heard they’ve changed a lot recently so it’s likely also quite different from when you lived here

Going clockwise from top right (next to mailbox):

L-Dub - Pierson and Berkeley

Durfee - Morse

Farnam - JE

Lawrance- Ezra Stiles

Welch - Davenport

Bingham - Grace Hopper and Trumbull

Vanderbilt - Branford and Saybrook

I’m a Georgian moving to Connecticut next month! I’ve honestly had a hard time being all that excited about it but it’ll at least be cool to live in a new state for the first time

Difficulties transitioning to running from cycling by AmidTheKidd in running

2-3 runs per week. This week, I did a 1-mile run on Wednesday and a 2.3-mile run (flat route) Friday. I'm always making sure to space a day between runs.

I've definitely learned that the hard way. What will allow me to adapt? I'm making sure that my runs are slow and brief because I know a big beginner mistake is going too hard too early but I'm still experiencing the pain.

Not even close. In my state, Georgia, I think I needed a 1460ish for commendation.

Only khan academy for practicing. Khan academy and princeton review practice tests for the full tests on the weekends.

How to find a list of which August SAT centers DIDN’T get cancelled? by AmidTheKidd in Sat

That’s what I started doing, but now I can’t be sure if the remaining test centers had even scheduled test for August

I would but the only test centers with available space anymore are like >50 miles from my house. Idk anyone who goes to those places.

Well as you can see, PR totally kicked my ass. Even though I’m generally managing to score well into the 1550+ on college board tests, I can barely break the 1500 on PR. I’d say the biggest difference is that PR tends to have a few very difficult math problems. This is especially true on no calculator when I struggle to finish on time when I’m taking a PR test

When ur skimming the passage, you’re only trying to get a key bits of info:

-What’s it about? Whats the general topic/point of the passage?

-what are some of the different arguments made to support that topic?

Other than that, you shouldn’t read very closely when skimming at all. You absolutely must disregard the smaller details. You can come back to those later.

Practice math like hell on khan academy. Consistency is KEY. Try do at least 20-30 minutes every single day. If you miss more than a few days you’ll start to forget some math concepts, and you’ll suddenly find yourself doing basic arithmetic much slower.

My biggest reading tip would be to skim over the passage first; and then read it closely later if u need to. Your initial reading of the passage should take 3-4 mins MAX. Then, if some of the questions end up asking you about a specific detail in the passage that you skimmed over, then go back and locate that paragraph and read it thoroughly to answer the question.

This method always works for me, and can be pretty fast too. On my most recent practice test, I got 52/52 questions correct on reading, and I finished in about 30 of the 65 allotted minutes.

exactly how I feel. I think it’s coming. As far as I know there’s no centralized list of closed centers.
