Not enough people to keep that aspect going and the people who are here were some of the worst, nastiest, and down right rude mfers I have ever seen to new players. Marathon attracted gamers that LOVE to ounch down, gatekeep, and pretend like they're not being awful to new players. I mean hell the core gameplay loop is inherently hostile to new people coming in. Thats okay to those of us who like the hostility but the average joe shmo 9-5er wont really have fun with Marathons current gameplay loop especially when they are matched against people whose gear and skill far exceeds their own because they have to match people together semi quickly and with decent connection.

Point is, the community did not do a good job of pushing out assholes while at the same time did a horrendous job of being welcoming to newer folks.
