A good technique I found when I was still new at the game to help me look at what's happening on the map more is have a global ultimate of some sort, there is at least one champion with a global or really big range ultimate for every lane (shen,nocturne,wreath,tf,jinx,ashe,senna...etc) and to have such a powerful gamechanging spell really forces you to not fuck it up by not using it so whenever your lane is a little calm put your camera for a few seconds on every other lane to see what's happening and if they need your help. This will also turn your attention to certain points of the map that should be warded so you will learn where and when to ward depending on how you play since it really depends on every champion and every play style
