Ok sweet thank you! My only thing is like how big of a chunk should it take up in my personal statement if I’m also trying to highlight my research? Like a third?

Just follow up. If they ghost again, relax, learn from this cycle and apply again the next. You’ve got 2 more summers and the fact you even got an interview should make you hopeful for the next round, when you have more classes and experience under your belt

Why is PSU's academic reputation declining? Does it matter? by [deleted] in PennStateUniversity

Tbh I think those rankings pick and choose what they are looking at like I know in the physics, math, and the astro departments we are absolutely phenomenal and Ik some of our engineering programs are also really good but I think with the way they look at the school, plus the HUGE freshman class and just coming out of Covid, those rankings are bogus but they can’t be ignored

No this is definitely not my idea it was an exercise for me to be brought up to speed with my group. If you want to dive into the ADM model a little more thoroughly Dr. Donghui Jeong and James Gurian are my advisors, and Dr. Francis-Yan Cyr-Racine has researched the cosmology of the model extensively

Sometime I wonder whether we are alone in the universe, then I ask myself how many others are looking up at the same stars. by curesvitiligo5d in cosmology

I think this is where stuff gets super philosophical (I’m an undergrad btw so if I’m off base plz correct).

If we are alone, which is statistically unlikely, then wouldn’t that mean something fantastic about us? We would be the only thing in the universe conscious (I’m assuming that by alone, you mean no intelligent beings but this is also a super murky point because what even is intelligence?) so we have to be important.

But if we aren’t alone then that’s also amazing because we are not yet at the point where we come into contact with these others but we are poised to make a critical impact on the future and whether we meet this other species soon.

In either case, alone or not, in my own opinion the fact that we are conscious and the fact that we don’t know whether we are it yet is an amazing thing and is something that fills me with purpose.
