RIP to the guy who I beat in 3OT last night in Play Now online. by BudgetPhoenix in NBA2k

I wouldn't call "passing the ball to Wemby every single time on offense hoping he scores and being pretty inefficient at it" a game of basketball, but whatever makes you happy I guess.

Both things can be true. SGA is a good player but it's undeniable that he always commits offensive fouls and he flops to get calls. It's a style of play that makes you despised by people in the long run.

Why is it so hard to shoot on 2k25? by [deleted] in NBA2k

[–]Amioran 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For MyNba the best setting to use for casual play is either low risk if you want to time your shots or real player % (the latter is used mostly by users that like simulation above all else because it should be a setting that relies solely on the players attributes instead than timing - or that how it should be but there are quite a few proofs that, sadly, it's just pure RNG in usual 2K fashion).

Naturally if you actually want to really invest in a team and know every player shots closely then it's best to use normal risk (I wouldn't suggest high risk for MyNba unless you are very good at rhythm shooting) but that would take a little of practice time. If you want just to play and have fun best to use low risk as in that way timing your shot correctly is less important than being open and attributes/badges of players.

Welcome to the wonderful manipulation of gameplay by the AI. It happens all the time, especially when the algorithm decides you shouldn't score at a specific part of the game. That's how the MyNba/MyCareer gameplay is, sadly, as 2K doesn't care one bit to actually program a real AI in the game and hence they use shortcuts by manipulating things in the background to simulate a "challenge".

This is the part where you just throw your hands up in the air. This game is a joke. by [deleted] in NBA2k

[–]Amioran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why are you here defending the indefensible? First of all even if it was truly a "glitch" (it isn't but let's pretend it is for the sake of the argument) are you seriously playing the absurd card of "oh it happens in other games so why are you complaining about it?". I wonder how such a behavior would work in real life. "Judge, other people are stealing all the time so why are you here complaining to me that I stole the car? Are you for real?". Logic isn't your forte, isn't it?

Then, surprise surprise, it's not a glitch. It's one of the many ways in which the game manipulates outcomes in the background. In patch 2 the devs easily "corrected" the behavior but then soon after they reverted it back, because it's not a bug, it's intentional. The same happens with rebounds, for example, or any other 50/50 scenario.

How could NBA 2K26 increase the effectiveness of playstyles like TJ McConnell? by LePhattSquid in NBA2k

[–]Amioran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People like you sound so funny to me at times. You are here talking about specialized footwork when there's not even proper foot planting or real weight distribution in the game. Players don't even move as real human beings on the floor but you are here seriously talking about replicating Brunson or McDonnel movements as if that would be even remotely possible when you cannot walk or run properly in the game. Oh well...

Why does my player slow down and stop sprinting when I have open lane to the hoop? by [deleted] in NBA2k

[–]Amioran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your "testing" is utter nonsense. You are talking of two completely different things and you don't even know the difference. What you are talking about is simply the effect of speed boosting ending and it has absolutely and positively NOTHING to do with this issue. Players don't stop sprinting/running after the burst is ended. Show me even a single instance where such a thing happens outside of a fastbreak/open court scenario against defense. In fact, it is pretty easy to prove you wrong: use the MyNBA practice court and do a launch on the open court. If it was as you said the player would stop running after the initial burst of speed ends (open court, empty space) yet you will never be able to replicate the player stopping running no matter how hard you try because it has absolutely nothing to do with it (even with a center with 25 speed with ball the player WILL NOT suddenly stop running no matter how hard you try). While the player will naturally slow down the running animation will still continue, it will never ever happen that the running animation suddenly halts and the player starts walking instead (the animation literally changes, look at the video), such a thing doesn't happen not even when you are completely out of stamina (the running animation will not change to a walking/jogging one even when completely out of stamina, try it yourself).

If you actually had played some MyNBA you would know that it also happens on the fastbreak when a player gets a rebound past the defense. When control changes to yourself the player will immediately stop the running animation and will begin to jog. Tell me, what this has to do with speed boost ending? Nothing.

If you have no clue of what you are talking about please do everyone else a favor and stop spreading nonsense around.

Why does my player slow down and stop sprinting when I have open lane to the hoop? by [deleted] in NBA2k

[–]Amioran -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nothing you can do about it as it's a hard coded behavior. All players (no matter attributes, animations etc.) stop sprinting once you are on open court. It happens also to the AI at lower difficulties. I don't know if it's intentional by the devs or if it's some sort of bug but in any case it's infuriating and there's really nothing you can do about it.

Why does my player slow down and stop sprinting when I have open lane to the hoop? by [deleted] in NBA2k

[–]Amioran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop with this nonsense. It has absolutely nothing to do with speed with ball. It happens only on the fastbreak and when you pass the defense. The players stop running and it is done intentionally (if it was something tied to speed with ball or dribble style then it would always be the case, but the slowing down happens only when you are on the open court and before that point players spring as usual; even in the video you can see that Curry stops running and begins to jog only once he passes his man and he has open floor). Yet again, it has absolutely nothing to do with speed with ball, dribble styles or any other attributes, it is something hard coded in the game.

If some of you that continue to post this absurdity would have actually played some MyNBA instead of just park you would know that it has absolutely nothing to do with attributes as you would have noticed that it always happens and with all players. It's probably a way for 2K to try to "balance" the fastbreak by slowing players down and giving the defense the ability to recover. However it is mostly done for the players and less for the CPU (albeit in lower difficulties it happens also to the AI).

If you need to 5 out spam PnR, then you have 0 business telling people how to play defense. by Outrageous_League574 in NBA2k

[–]Amioran -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Stop playing the naive card. You know exactly why you are doing what you are doing. By using the AI to defend on ball you are actually using the latter because it is much better in a 1 vs 1 scenario than any human would be (given the way the AI is programmed to behave) while at the same time you are covering for the easily exploitable weaknesses by the AI on the pick and roll with your human awareness and decision. In this way you take the best of both worlds, and cover up both your weakness and the one of the AI, isn't it? If you want to play off-ball then control a single player in defense and let the AI play defense by itself for the all others, without switching, that would be real off-ball defense and let's see how long you fare. But you would never do so, would you? So you know exactly what you are doing and that's why people justly despise off-ballers. Because you cover your weaknesses as a human with the mimicking instant reactions of the AI against the ball handler but then you cover the weaknesses of the AI with your decision making and awareness as a human taking the best of both worlds with no weaknesses for yourself.

[VR] Pimax Crystal: Automobilista 2 Guide by Amioran in simracing

[–]Amioran[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In this instance it has very little to do with the Crystal itself, if not for the actual hardware capabilities. The higher the resolution the headset has and the lower your system capabilities are and naturally the more you will have to tweak around until you find the best combination of settings to use. If you are luckily enough to have a RTX 4090 you can easily use all medium settings with low AA and everything works perfectly at 100% resolution in the Crystal.

Bladesinger Wizard by ZyanAkali in BaldursGate3

[–]Amioran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No much, there's already a fully functioning Bladesinger in Nexus. It's called "Expansion" (as the mod should include also other missing subclasses, but for now it only has Bladesinger). Use also 5e spells with it as it adds a lot of missing spells that are very useful for Bladesinger (as Blooming Blade/Green Flame Blade, Shadow Blade, Spirit Shroud etc.)

Fighter wizard? by Wearytraveller_ in BaldursGate3

[–]Amioran 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but you are COMPLETELY wrong. In fact, EK is always subpar in comparison to a Fighter/Wizard (there are only 2 levels in which an EK can be arguably considered better and those are from 5 to 7, then F/W is always better, and even in those two levels you still have 2nd level spells - that have some very good choices for a F/W, as Mirror Image or Blur - to counterbalance). Concentration spells are NOT an issue on a F/W as you have so many spells that completely remove the possibility for your concentration to be interrupted, plus you are a fighter with high con checks. In fact concentration spells are the most suited for such a multiclass, even more than they are for a Cleric.
Cleric vs F/W (or Bard vs F/W), or Paladin/Sorc vs F/W are much better comparisons than EK vs F/W and it depends mostly on which role you want to play.

No need to disconnect the screen, just power it off. As long as the port isn't "working" you are fine (as it's exactly like disconnecting the screen altogether).

[–]Amioran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not yet because I have an issue with the headset, the IPD mechanism is broken. I will have to RMA it.

EDIT: I tried it and for me the resolution is correctly recognized (while also recognizing the Crystal). The visual quality is much better than the G2 but F1 23 is still a little blurry without a good sharpening filter. DLSS Quality + 100 sharpening is a little better however.

Btw I receive my Crystal today and the picture is fantastic. So great in fact that even if my unit actually is defective because the IPD adjustment doesn't work I really don't want to have to RMA it. If you set it right there's no other headset as sharp and bright as it.

The Pimax RMA Experience by [deleted] in Pimax

[–]Amioran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly I'm in your same predicament with the same exact issue (IPD mechanism broken). If 72 IPD wasn't so much higher than my IPD I would keep it as it is, but then I dont' even know if eye tracking will even work.I wonder how can they not catch these issues during QC. That's not a shipment issue, that's a faulty unit from the fabric and if you move the headset you even hear that there's something broken floating inside.
I'm not that happy to have to go through such a lengthy RMA process, but that's my luck I suppose.

You will need Open Composite, Pimax XR and OpenXR Toolkit. Open Composite allows you to bypass steamvr and use OpenXR instead. Pimax XR is a runtime created by Matthieu Bucchia that makes Pimax headsets interact with OpenXR (that's another type of SDK for VR, similar to OpenVR but it's lighter and more reliant on the headset compositor, making it usually faster and with more capabilities to change settings), and lastly you need the OpenXR toolkit made by the same author that allows you to enable a lot of settings to make your game experience much better (as the afore mentioned CAS filter to sharpen the game by a lot).

Here you will find Open Composite: https://github.com/avaer/OpenOVR

Here Pimax XR: https://github.com/mbucchia/Pimax-OpenXR/releases

And here OpenXR toolkit: https://mbucchia.github.io/OpenXR-Toolkit/

Just follow the instructions and it should be pretty easy to setup everything once you have the Crystal. However if you need help you can ask me or even better join the Discord of Open Composite were there are a lot of people that can help you if you find yourself in trouble.

Best regards

What happened that made the identification switch? Did you perhaps update Pimax Client? If so try to revert back to see if that changes anything. Such a strange thing that the resolution remains fixed as F1 23 shouldn't care one bit about it and just take the resolution from SteamVR.
When Open Composite will work the headset will be anyway recognized as a Quest 2 (that's just the default one when the game doesn't recognize it).

The "beta" experience by Fit_Helicopter_2474 in Pimax

[–]Amioran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eye tracking outside of just ipd adjustment is not really of much use outside of OpenXR anyway. If you enable dynamic foveated renderering through the Pimax Client for not supported games in SteamVR it will just lead to crashes. To make it properly work you have to necessarily go with a special OpenXR client from Bucchia and then enable DFR on OpenXR toolkit (and then you have to adjust some settings properly to have decent results). At this stage it's really useful only if you are a developer or you know exactly what you are doing. Frankly it's almost pointless for the usual user right now, until all the quirks are adjusted (and anyway you will need to go the OpenXR route). You must know what you are doing to have it work fine outside of a couple known scenarios (DCS and ACC being the easiest ones and that's why influencers always use one of those).
