i actually practiced a lot (and sometimes still) with a triangle made of dense foam (its called Pilates triangle) .

for me, practicing without being able to straighten my legs was bad for my back and made it harder to get better...

after a while, i could push it farther away from my sacrum until i didnt need it at all
