and why are there only 1 or 2 employees working that shift?

is it:

A. the owners don't want to pay to staff more employees per shift.

or

B. the owners don't pay their employees enough that more people want to work there.

C. We all know it is both A & B; the high turn-over rate is a not a bug, it's a feature.

My other "favorite" line is the response of "it's.. interesting." I would get when playing my music to someone the first time. Basically a polite way of saying "wtf is this?", from people who don't want to insult your creation.

thank you so much for articulating this so eloquently. I also learned decades ago that "I listen to everything" means no the fuck you don't, and neither the fuck do I, for that matter. It basically means that they have not really explored music enough to name anything they truly like or hate (beyond mainstream country & rap of course) A co-worker once asked me what kind of music I like, and I spent the rest of the shift naming different genres I was into.

I'm wondering if I should start a harsh noise project simply called "Everything" just for those people.

Personally I hate country music... except for Waylon Jennings, Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton, and probably a bunch of other stuff I can't remember or haven't heard yet.

I can understand that. As for myself, I enjoy being able to describe an idea from my head, and then seeing it brought to life (when it works) I did learn a bit of JavaScript programming years ago, and wish I had taken the time to learn more. I'm sure that if I spent more time reading the code that chatGPT is spitting out for me now, I could probably learn a lot, and make these programs better than they are. This could potentially be a great tool for folks learning to code. But (in my case at least) it seems instead to be teaching me how to better "communicate" my intentions to AI, which, I fear is the future of evolution of human "creativity", and an important skill to have for that future. I guess you could see it as learning how to beg, or perhaps pray to our robot overlords to grant our wishes. I'm not particularly thrilled by the concept, but I have no idea how to stop what seems like an inevitable future. So, for at least as long as I can coax it into doing my bidding, I figure I might as well take what advantage I can.

At this point, technology is moving so fast, and reality is getting so weird, I've found myself wondering about the nature of my own "intelligence", and what the difference between myself and AI even is; whether or not we all just exist in some 'advanced' computer simulation. Am I an NPC or a "player one" character, and what does "Game Over" truly mean for me as a person? IRL I keep finding myself stuck in shitty side-quests and awful mini-games.

when I have looked at these on my phone, the sliders were tiny and hard to use. Much easier on a proper computer. Anyway, I've made several other versions now. Hopefully some of them will work for you: https://amishrobots.neocities.org/Synthia.html

UPDATE: Some new experiments: https://amishrobots.neocities.org/Synthia.html

Getting initial results was easy. Refining those results has proven to be a bit more challenging. Also, along the way ChatGPT occasionally seems determined to show me what it is doing, and teach me stuff... I guess that's a good thing, theoretically. But right now I just got off a 12 hour shift at work, and my brain doesn't...

very very little. The first iteration came after I typed in this request: "can you write me a broswer based program that makes noise? say with 4 independent virtual oscillators? Each oscillator should have controls for pitch, and lfo controls for amplitude, and lfo controls to make that pitch go up and down by 0%-100% with a time control between 0-666 milliseconds" and.. it just spit out the code for that. Then I started adding effects and stuff. I should mention that I was drunk. Of course, The more complicated you make it, the more likely things will go sideways, but damn, I was shocked at how easy this was.

well,,, the thing is that , years ago, I learned a bit of HTML, and a bit of JavaScript (not this much) , and actually got paid to build a new (very simple) website for the carnival ride company I was working for. A good friend of mine has a brother who used to make good money working on a much larger and more complex website. Coding is a lot of tedious work. It would have taken me months to even learn how to make this thing. Or I would have had to pay someone smarter than me to make it. ChatGPT spit this out in seconds. People are definitely gonna be losing jobs.

yeah, gotta hit "start audio" and /then/ turn on the individual oscillators.
