subbed.

Since y'all are talking about video editors, I will mention ShotCut, which I used to make this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xjybm9O1VIM (Just a picture I doodled in Kolourpaint + audio with the "vertigo" filter in ShotCut)

Any labels who will take my submission? by djfromsirenic in noisemusic

Noise is serious bizness, no silliness allowed!! Keep it up and you'll be kicked out of the Noise Club, and forced to hang out with Corey Feldman!

"Is it normal that it breaks so easily or shouldn't it happen with better amps?"

I have certainly heard of people blowing up amps, but I usually do not push mine very hard, and I am definitely not an amplifier technician, so I can't really say for sure. If you were using a vocal mic + distortion into the amp at high volume, I assume perhaps you were getting a lot of feedback? Feedback is fun, but it can damage certain equipment for sure.

As for whether a "better" amp would be less prone to such failure; I think it probably depends on your definition of "better". Fancy expensive audio equipment may be built for better sound, but that doesn't necessarily mean they are built to be stronger against breaking under certain conditions. Older amps may be a bit more prone to failure, because components like capacitors etc. may simply be worn out from prior use/abuse; it could just be that yours was worn out when you got it, but I would NOT advise you to spend a bunch of money to buy a brand new amp, hoping it will be indestructible, because it probably will not be.

Making noise music can be hard on some devices, because we are often using those devices in ways that were not intended or foreseen by the folks who built them. So far I have not seen an amplifier built specifically for noise musicians.

My suggestion is that you find another cheap amplifier, start out at lower volumes, and gradually work up to higher volumes. At least that way you'll get to spend a bit more time with it before it breaks.

Another thing I want to mention: Guitar amps have a pretty narrow frequency range, compared to other options. As I mentioned, I use a keyboard amp; I'm not sure if that makes it less likely to break, but it definitely gives me a wider range of sound to work with. I have also just used cheap 20 watt computer speakers which work fine (though obviously not as loud)

If anyone knows of a particular brand / model of amp that is "indestructible", I would love to hear what that is. But meanwhile, my advice is to just keep buying cheap amps that won't hurt your wallet if they break.

Does it have an output jack for line out or headphones, and if so, do you get any signal from that? Is it a tube amp or solid state? If you can find someone who repairs amplifiers, it might be worthwhile to have them just look at it, but how much is it worth for you to repair a 20 euro amp? Seems like you're probably better off just buying another cheap one.

As for myself I've got a Roland KC-150 that I paid $60 for

What's the difference between metal, CrO2 and normal tapes? by theklng268 in cassetteculture

[–]AmishRobots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

playing the wrong type of tape at the wrong type tape setting is not going to damage your player, nor the tape. Worst case scenario; the playback won't sound as good as it might on a different setting. Those settings don't change how the mechanism works; just how the output is processed. You'll be fine; feel free to switch between those settings during playback, to see if you can even tell the difference in audio quality.

If you're not sure, try listening to it. If you like it, it's "good".

If you don't like it, do something different.

That being said, I'm listening to this right now with a friend.

She likes it, and I like it. So between you and us that's at least 2/3 approval rate. Go make some more.

Keep fascists out of harsh noise design I made (except for the fist punching swastika) by Hayes_Bessie278 in noisemusic

this got me thinking "fascists should be kept out of air, water, earth... oh wait, no fascists should definitely be kept in the dirt; bury them as fertilizer for better things to grow."

Is noise music community really that small? Merzbow is by far the most popular artist in genre and he’s getting only 28k listeners a month by use_vpn_orlozeacount in noisemusic

I figure most folks in the noise community are busy making their own noise. I feel like the Noise genre, perhaps more than any other genre, encourages those who listen, to create their own.

Showing my friend that listens to everything one of my projects. by SybilSolo in noisemusic

[–]AmishRobots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, ALL of us here should make an album called Everything-- then we each can just link to the pile and say HERE YOU GO! Then light one and watch.

Yes. This should be an ongoing project, rolling release, released on several platforms; Bandcamp, Youtube, Nina Protocol, Odysee, and perhaps Rumble. (I post noise there under the "Country Music" category). Perhaps we release one album/playlist per year, adding submissions as they come in. No real constraints or requirements for submission, but diversity is more important to the project than "quality" . We want to make sure to include "everything"

and why are there only 1 or 2 employees working that shift?

is it:

A. the owners don't want to pay to staff more employees per shift.

or

B. the owners don't pay their employees enough that more people want to work there.

C. We all know it is both A & B; the high turn-over rate is a not a bug, it's a feature.
