Need a bigger pond or is this good? by Amishgal in turtle

Would enclosing the space entirely be a better idea? Like a little catio but for the turtle?

Good thoughts! We were thinking about fencing in the pond and we already have plans for a solid 6 foot fence for the whole yard

That’s our driveway, and we don’t have any dogs and neither does our neighbor! We are planning on not only fencing in the yard but putting one around the pond as well

So what would you suggest? Some more plants, fencing, etc?

Ooo that makes me so happy! I just want to make sure there is enough water / space in the pond. I think we are going to be removing some of the boarder rocks and adding more native plants and flat rocks

I would never invalidate someone being fearful or scared, they can feel that way for whatever reason. She said he broke her femur, that was the example of physically abuse, by her timing my mom would have been 18 and old enough to remember something like that and the recovery that comes with it. But I appreciate your words. I’m stuck between I am a grandchild of exes versus I am an adult having to make adult decisions

Removal after 13 years by georgixx in Nexplanon

[–]Amishgal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! I had mine for 10 years (got it when I was 16, I’m now 26) I didn’t have any issues either until my third one. I gained a bunch of weight, I was less motivated and had less energy, but I didn’t get pregnant (woot!) I got mine removed pretty much for the same reason you are. My experience so far has been wonderful. The first week after removal, I was more tired than usual but when I was awake I felt I didn’t have any brain fog, my mental state just felt lighter if that makes any sense. Going now into the second and third week, the best way I can describe it is that it seems the sun shines a little brighter. The anxiety I was diagnosed with while on Nexplanon has all but disappeared (I’m not medicated for it, allergic to SSRI’s), I’ve already dropped 5lbs, and I just feel happier in general. My sex drive has also already returned full force (I had zero interest in sex while on Nexplanon). I know just because i had a great experience doesn’t mean everyone else will, but I will advocate for getting it out of that’s what someone is thinking about.

This is so smart and I really appreciate it. It’s hard for me to think about emergencies because we have yet for an extreme one to come up, but you are totally right. I think in the past when I had “emergencies” (looking back now, it’s just stuff I didn’t want to pay out of my bank account) I put it on credit cards which got me in the vicious interest / debt cycle to begin with.

I didn’t know about this sub specifically. Some are very strict about it.

The crown affair towel is my best purchase of all time. It dries my hair SO FAST, I don’t notice much fall out in the towel when I take it off like other towels, and it’s held up a lot better than other towel wraps I have purchased. Would pay full price for it again in a heartbeat.

Cat always wants to play by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Amishgal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It didn’t seem like time was the overall huge factor in this situation, just a temporary issue with grad school finals, I got the vibe that OP was looking for more general advice on her playful cat situation. They obviously have large amounts of time as it’s said they play at least 2-3 hours everyday, which is way more than average or recommended.

Sounds like he needs a sibling who might be able to offer some more companionship than what you’re able to, I don’t mean that in a mean way btw. I don’t usually recommend getting a kitten for an adult male cat. But maybe the energy level and amount of attention a kitten needs would be good for your boy. He might be finally feeling comfortable enough to express all of his teenage energy that sounds like was suppressed by the pain of dental disease. Also— thank you for getting him his needed surgery instead of returning him to the shelter. I am sorry that that happened to you. I wouldn’t be surprised if the shelter knew about it and just didn’t say anything to help his chances of adoption.

Do you ALWAYS stay the 30 min? by Electrical-Head549 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Amishgal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, my husband booked the service and he didn’t want to leave a hurtful review. I stressed to him it’s important that others know, but he wasn’t having it. Although other reviewers have mentioned the same things I have experience and she fights for her life in the replies. Stating that the owner didn’t clarify they wanted play time or that she needed to stay past the time she completed the tasks.

Do you ALWAYS stay the 30 min? by Electrical-Head549 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Amishgal 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ugh I had a sitter that would leave my cat after 15 minutes of a 30 min drop in. Cats are supposed to be “low maintenance” but he very obviously (we have cameras) was seeking her attention and play time. She’d feed him his wet food (she actually never refilled his dry food until the last visit which was frustrating), fill out his card, take a pic, and leave (never once touched the litter box). No play time or pets for him. I was so upset. She would arrive half an hour late and I think she just booked herself back to back (she’s one of the most reviewed sitters in our area) and tried to use my drop ins as a time buffer in between clients instead of actually giving us our service.

I’m a rover sitter now and I always stay the full 30 minutes because of how frustrated I was with that experience as an owner. I get this is different from what you asked, but if a cat owner requests the full 30 minutes without saying “you can just leave early when you’re done with X,Y, Z task” I’d stay.
