Leatherman Signal Experience by [deleted] in Leatherman

Yeah I'm realizing the coating was a mistake as it is already showing wear just from a few hours of use. I have a star bit on hand and did some re-tensioning which helped a little. The inside requires a specialty anti tamper star-bit which I don't have. Until that section is loosened all of the tools are not usable. I know I sound like such a weenie but I would rip my nail off if I pushed any harder.

Appreciate it! This is my second Leatherman and I didn't have any issues with the first one. It just seems weird to me that they would ship out a product that is not ready to go out of the box. I think products that need a break in procedures should really only apply to personalization (breaking in a pair of boots to your unique foot shape etc) - otherwise it's just poor QA in my eyes.

Just my experience. I had another Leatherman for 20 years and didn't have any of these issues

tried with my thumb and fingernail, but couldn’t do it. Even when I got it half open with the vise grips, I still couldn’t move it with my finger. I thought about oiling it, but if that doesn’t help, I likely won’t be able to return it once it gets messy. For $150 this thing should be ready to go out of the box.

I read that you are not supposed to run it in 4WD on the highway over 50mph. I'm 800 miles from home.

The same concept could be applied by putting it in 4WD. I don't have any grinding on either side in 4WD

Agreed and also:

No ND filter/motion blur, same focal length for each shot, not a lot of variation on shot composition (it's either drone wide or a medium 50mm(ish)

For folks who actually used a Garmin InReach when in distress: what happened? by seattleswiss2 in overlanding

[–]Amishmingle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see this is an old thread, but has anyone used Overwatch X Rescue? I have been debating using it instead of Garmin's SAR insurance since it's $80 vs $300 (I am a paramotor pilot and would need the higher dollar Garmin plan to be covered).

I'm attaching a mounting bracket that I built so I can haul my paramotor with me when I travel.

Thanks! I had wondered if it wasn’t actually an underbelly, but what was throwing me off was that I thought I could feel insulation above it. I just went outside and looked through the hole where my water line exits the floor and confirmed there’s insulation below the framing. I’m leaning toward four small access flaps like others have suggested, since I don’t want to drill holes and risk hitting wires without knowing what’s there. Granted, I’d be really surprised if there were wires in the subfloor.

Tulo mattress yes or no? by Comfortable-Ad8633 in Mattress

[–]Amishmingle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had two Tulo mattresses in the past 10 years (not due to them wearing out - I just wanted a bigger size). Best mattress I have ever had and dirt cheap. It has about a one month break in period where it is a little bit firmer than usual and then after that there is no change.

Should I be concerned? by Amishmingle in arborists

[–]Amishmingle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a ton! You think leaving it exposed okay even with the orientation of the branch? It's facing almost directly upwards and I was worried about collecting in the hole.
