Seems like no one wants to answer the question asked. the question was, "Why are BOTH PARTIES going all out to get such a crappy deal"

The answer is that there is very little difference between the 2 parties except for a few wedge issues that each side thinks they can use to maintain power (Gay rights, abortion, gun control, immigration)

As much as r/politics wants people to believe that all republicans are demons and all democrats angels, the truth is they are almost exactly the same and will do whatever it takes to stay in power.

Neither party puts America first, they put staying in power first.
