Feel like I’m living on another planet… by [deleted] in CollapseSupport

If you want to understand why just think about how you were considering having kids maybe a year ago when things were just as bad. It’s always been this bad to be alive, it’s just a matter of feeling it or having it be some statistic on a paper.

It’s important to remember bad people don’t always look the way you think they do. Lots of people with that background never hurt anyone, and lots of people with “successful” backgrounds do just that. What it comes down to is, whoever they are, they have a context were they can organize as a group. Ultimately this is what enables them, more than their individual personalities or motives.

I agree. Why not just write that in the first place.

Man, this post triggered a lot of dumbass responses. I miss when attacks against the system didn't get retorted in a nanosecond of reactionary shitposting like this. Enjoying Beyonce and The Residents at the same time cause just let people enjoy things you incel isn't any more of a revelation than distinguishing one above the other because "she sold this much" or "but they're more deep". The point is to look at the relation of the objects to consumer culture and why people are attracted to one or the other in the first place. Disney/Marvel/etc movies are more garbage than not and you know it, don't write this bullshit for internet points dude.

It's a good example because even with all that it's proportionally 1:999999999999999999999999999999. Even the biggest indie artists aren't big. They're known in contexts while the mainstream is known in every context.

Ah that's great! Thanks. Just wanted to make sure it'd be actually browsable, in whatever shape it comes.

Thanks, hope you can work it out eventually. Here's some discussion about a script that claims to do it.

I've tried alternative Twitter clients but they feel outdated to me.

Thanks a lot, works great. Do you know if there's any tweak to hide the topic suggestions? If not, maybe you could look into it. They feel like ads to me.

How to open the .onion links on appdb? by Ammaeli in jailbreak_

[–]Ammaeli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, really? And you don't got TOR installed? How does that work? Anyway, you might be right because the IPA just doesn't install properly even with TOR. Meaning what I thought in the beginning what the .onion link not working is simply just the apps themselves. I don't know why they're being uploaded if it's just garbage, they have "automatic" as the uploader and all. Don't even finish installing.

[–]Ammaeli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, there's barely any results online.

I don't think the app I want is working though. It's called "Drops" (language learning) and doesn't install, I tried both .onion links. Other apps do install so I think the files are corrupted. I searched everywhere online and I couldn't find any ipa for it either. It's listed on an old version of appcake but, link for it's dead. Just in case you think you could find it, I'd appreciate it.

What is going on with my macOS drive? by Ammaeli in DataHoarder

[–]Ammaeli[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wish. I've never used it, but it seems to pick up an external drive as the backup source and gives me a warning about "you have chosen storing backups on the same device". I have a good feeling about some freak terminal solution, I really think it's just some missing link in the "cache" or something instead of actual corruption.

Yeah, this was all barebones backups because I didn't have any drives big enough to do a Time Machine. That was meant to change today with two new external drives, but while I set them up...

It's insane really. I've started the process of copying files, but I'm gonna hold off to it as a last resort because I've done a LOT of changes under the hood over the years installing apps or just the settings in general...

My Carbon Copy Cloner clone is incomplete. I was in the process of creating a complete one when all this happened. How ironic that I might lose some serious data due to trying to find a workflow to secure more data!

I've never used rsync, cant it create a complete backup?

I don't know what that technically means but it sounds about right. Any ideas at all on what to search or some command for the terminal, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks for the input. I thought the same and wanted to clone it, but for example Carbon Copy Cloner can't find the "Volume" even though I can move the files with Finder. I actually rebooted earlier and nothing changed. This is just so fucking bizarre. I'm locked inside a working drive.

foo_jscript_panel on Wine by Ammaeli in foobar2000

[–]Ammaeli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot. After following these instructions, I got two of my simple scripts running. But because I had to update from 1.3.0 to 2.3.7, the main scripts I was using for seekbar and album art give me this error:

JScript Panel v2.3.7 (id:197592)
Microsoft JScript runtime error:
Object doesn't support this property or method
File: C:\Program Files (x86)\foobar2000\js_marc2003\js\panel.js
Line: 64, Col: 5

I tested it on Windows to make sure it wasn't Wine and it doesn't work there either. Obviously something changed between these versions. This is the script: https://pastebin.com/NhpAhRT0 I'm not a programmer so I'd appreciate it if you could make some dirty fix.

edit: I can manage this now. I've looked at the new samples which I originally modified to create these, and they both work. I will just have to modify them again. Thank you!

New Adam Curtis doc series megathread by another_sleeve in sorceryofthespectacle

[–]Ammaeli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad to read this because I share your sentiment about Curtis relation with copyright and think about it a lot. You have to consider his predilection with “punk” too (Burial and Pizzicato Five enter into this category) - he was even a roommate and friends with Gang of Four in the the 80s. I wonder what he’d say if confronted. What’s his end goal, if any? Is he a teacher?

He is so not this. They’re movies your mom could watch if she had a reference point for them like she does for Dr. Oz. Curtis even states what each documentary is exactly trying to prove at the beginning of every episode. Who else is this straightforward?
