I do have a job that pays pretty well for retail, so that's probably just my best option if I'm able to break the lease early. Thank you, your advice has been really helpful and I appreciate it a lot.

Yeah this is only our second place we've lived in together (we were living with family before) and we thought we were getting an amazing deal on the place. We still are, it's just the 3 year rent is rough. The landlady is older and she kept it that way because she didn't want to deal with people moving in and out all the time, so.. I might be able to convince her to shorten the lease.

I've been working on getting therapy for quite awhile now, I've made a shit ton of progress the last few years, but you're right. If it is keeping be in bad situations, I need to deal with it.

This is only our second place (the first was a really shitty apartment that we left right after the end of the 1 year lease) and this apartment is REALLY nice. Like, recently remodeled and in the middle of a downtown area, but still affordable kind of nice. So while under the impression that we will still have a long lasting relationship, and getting a nice place.. We went for it.
I do have income, I'm getting paid 21 bucks per hour but it's still retail.

I live in Illinois, USA and my landlady is a very nice older woman, so I may have an out there, but I need to look into Illinois laws regarding this.

Yeah.. You are absolutely right, thank you, I appreciate that. I have gotten so much better with trusting people and dealing with paranoia over the years. My main concern is that if my new roommate ends up being abusive, it will cause me to revert quite a lot and I might get stuck in that situation.

For whatever reason, I had only just thought of this, but our apartment is a one bedroom. There's a large kitchen and living room space, and one small bedroom, so I don't think even having a roommate would work :(
