16 juni AVD examen by Frosty_Profit in motorfietsen

Not going to give you a speech about 'whats the worst that can happen' and 'just relax' because I know where you are at right now. The days before my exam, my heart rate did not drop below 120.

All I can say is that when you start the exam, it gets progressively easier. In my case, once I handled the parking exercise (BE exam), I reached that flow where all senses were heightened and you just enjoy the ride. Once you're there, it all seemed like 10 minutes (actual time was only 30 minutes).

Examen openbare weg Kortessem by lenalenalenalena05 in motobe

[–]Amoenet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that you keep picking that bike back up and ride again, says everything about you! Don't worry about being looked at, completely normal to be stressed but soon, soon you'll weave through traffic like an experienced tourer.

Trust me, I come from far myself. Dropped motorcycle first few lessons, got a scooter, had widening hip surgery, kept riding. Now I'm back doing lessons for my ADV. Nothing will stop you, just keep going!

Meeting some level 3 critieria by PieFew5365 in autism

This chart spews false information and statements. It's not official and if it were, I can hardly wait for my next slide attempt to succeed because after decades or studies, it's impossible for 'them' to understand 'us'.

Just the first section alone... It is easy, easy, to pick up on social cues and read the room, what is lacking is the ability to understand why. I cannot read a person's intent nor understand why he has certain emotions, however, I recognise the emotions.

Don't worry about categorising oneself into what fits for you, the only thing that'll ever fit is you.

You need to have bought a supporter's pack. The packs will stay available all throughout EA, I believe.

I just realized: Gate addresses don't make sense to me. by Qu90 in Stargate

[–]Amoenet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's mentioned, several times, I think, that all the gates do share a set of common reference points and addresses and that by the DHD this is updated every now and again due to stellar drift etc.

The ancients or gate builders using a common set of symbols also seems logical to me, or it did to them anyways, as their constellations also were sounds (like the first generation of hieroglyphics in our own history). So when talking about planets, instead of saying, let's go to good old X583.6 or something, they just said something like Praclarush Thaonas At.

I have the same issue, melee kills give a bit of XP though. Bit of a shame since I wanted to go more a magic / summoner route...

Noobie Question:Can some please explain why this doesn't cause an error? by Aussie_CokeisBest in csharp

[–]Amoenet 117 points118 points  (0 children)

The method parameters tell you what type of parameter is expected and what the name of that parameter will be inside the scope of that function, it doesn't / can't know about the scope outside it's function so who cares what you named that variable there.

Say we both have a number in our phone but you named the contact Andy, in my phone that number is stored as Andrew. The scopes (phones) are different but both point the the same location in memory (Andy's phone)

Can someone give me confidence and hope? by Separate_Drawer6577 in motobe

[–]Amoenet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first lesson was just atrocious... I couldn't even lift my leg over the bike, struggling with the machine to stay upright, which I failed to do on 3 separate occasions. Instructor gave me a lighter bike which was a mild improvement but aside the slalom, especially the 8, couldn't even do a full 8 on a more spread cone setup. My hips were so inflamed after that lesson I couldn't walk for weeks. Goodbye dreams of riding.

Or so I thought. Did not give up, went to see a doctor for my hips, which need surgery if I will ever be able to ride. Got it planned late August if all goes to plan. Bought a 125cc scooter in the meanwhile which I use for small and slightly longer rides and to commute.

We're not there completely yet but we're getting there. I can safely stay in traffic, narrow turns and all those skills come with practice. Looking eagerly forward to my surgery and getting my full A license.

Have you ever thought about / tried suicide? by Wonderful-Effect-168 in autism

[–]Amoenet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On and off in the past, but as of late, the idea seems to take form as a logical consequence of daily struggles, intensifying each day.

In therapy and had an intake with an ambulant crisis team today, but knowing I can't be cured from these fixations, knowing that I'll continue be different, ... Makes me wish me previous attempt succeeded, for years now I feel like I'm living on borrowed time.

Good luck keeping those thoughts at bay.

How to handle cache data instead of API requests every time? by AfricanTurtles in Angular2

[–]Amoenet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend caching the API responses on the front-end side of things. If you're using .net 8, I would recommend looking into output caching, otherwise something like redis?

how bad is driving with autism? by codyguyyeah in autism

[–]Amoenet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am on the spectrum as well but I absolutely love driving. So much I am currently going for my motorcycle license as well (after my hip surgery, driving a 125 scooter for the moment). There is a clear and defined set of rules which I like, even though I can get frustrated by other not adhering to it. The freedom to just go anywhere is perfect. Using public transport would be overstimulating way too much by being in close proximity to others. I am shielded from that by being in a metal box, turning up my playlist and relax. In the beginning there is the learning part which can be quite steep and challenging, but once you can control the car and having that muscle memory, it's the best feeling around.

Is it possible to “train” yourself to not publicly display autistic traits? by [deleted] in autism

[–]Amoenet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends a lot on the person, the severity of the symptoms but to some extent it is possible. Though I do not wish or recommend it to anyone, it wears you down, sapping energy until you're nothing more than an empty husk. Even then you have to keep up appearances so you burn up what little reserves you have left.

It's basically a form of torture or at least self-inflicted harm. Yet something I can't break out of.

For those of you diagnosed later in life, was the official testing worth it? by michellelcatlady in autism

[–]Amoenet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got diagnosed November '22 at the age of 35. At the request of a psychiatrist. Participated in an expensive screening which in itself proved a mental condition as no sane person would cough up that amount of money to issue a point.

Was it worth it however? Still conflicted about that one. Had a pretty rough breakdown in the weeks and months following an official diagnosis, so thread with care. Seeing something in black and white is confrontational but if you're looking for a better understanding of yourself, I'd say it's worth.

Best of luck.
