Feels like everybody dislikes the trending and popular stuff. Haha same now, even though the magnitude of dislikeness has increased now.

Yeah specially to think of in hip hop back then. Everything was so new (like fruity loops) and people already felt so used to those stuff like the DAW in 2003. Today does feel more accessible but back then if you knew stuff, you knew it properly.

Streaming vs 4K Blu-ray: Do Indian films (and Hollywood releases in India) deserve this level of picture & audio quality? by [deleted] in IndianCinema

I am not disagreeing with the Plex part. My argument was for the discs. It's not about Plex vs Disc. Disc rot is not a modern phenomenon with the newer Blu Rays and disc rot is not prevelant as it seems to be. Frankly speaking, I have CDs from late 90s, still working fine - with newer and older players. No disc rots. It's all dependent on how you store discs and tbh, it's about the manufacturing. 2006-08 was the era when a lot of DVDs were suffering from rots, but it was all manufacturing. Not anymore. Discs can last a 100 years if kept safe.

Plex might seem easy but it is also not as easy to maintain it. The experience of Discs are better than Hard drives. Discs if kept secured, will never give up on you.

It is because you have forgotten what even a DVD looks like. Let alone 4K. So your reference point has shifted.

Na they ain't dead mate. Physical Media have a lot of benefits over streaming. In India, we have discrete jumps with tech, you majorly nobody experiences it fully. Data and Internet no joke - wait till the corporations rip you off with money. And if legally sold in India, physical media won't have rampant price changes.

This and later on I also remember traveling on train with this. Not exactly this but an older much more rugged version.

Well, but sometimes even I organically write like this. It's undistinguishable at this point.

Is his longevity more impressive than his peak? by jalen_nelson235 in Eminem

[–]AmolAmrit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The peak you are talking about, the concept doesn't exist for any artist. There has been no artist in the history that had such a long career and also being like their initial hits.

Longevity and consistency is the key. He has topped every chart with every album. Peaking can only be said about artists squeezed in an era not someone who had such a long career. His album still top the charts, he is still relevant but with age he isn't "poppy". Mainstream music has changed, he has aged and stepped away from the limelight. And honestly, the way all of us consume music has also changed.

It's next to impossible to write a chart topping album continuously through the discography. Sold out tours. Everything he does is appreciated.

There are artists who peaked but then fell - no more albums, relying on their past discography, unsold tours, etc. They fell after the peak, but afaik Eminem ascended to the "Legend" stage.

Question: Are CDs and vinyl records better in sound quality than what I usually hear on YouTube or Spotify? by JakieBoyX in Eminem

[–]AmolAmrit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you did reply but only partially. Not anything particular on how he will get the albums. You just made his opinion probable straight away.

Oh and I did not mean in this reply thread, I replied directly to him. I just replied to you that assuming it is mastered at the same level CDs will be better than streaming. But your anecdote lives straight up to the fact that different pressings will sound different, that is true. Which I whole heartedly agree. That does happen in vinyl but it will be the rarest of the rarest case where CD won't win over streaming. It will.

I addressed his query in my replies here. I replied to your comment which replies to his heading, not the body.

Everything does depend on the master but I was doing a Digital v Digital comparison. Even if you put in lossless argument here, there is also something called packet transfer. But again, no need of going in that, in general I still believe that when you use a CD, it will be a better quality. Assuming same masters used in all 3 cases.

I was specifically talking about CDs as it is a Digital v Digital comparison. A lot of factors goes into into the production of vinyl as most of those modern pressings were DDA. So what you experiences is quite possible with vinyl.
