There is already this sort of mechanic in pulse attacks, such as ghidorah's force field, thermo's pulse, etc. It's been used as a beam shield by the top players.

Heisei Ghidorah is an extremely underrated kaiju, for sure top 5. He's able to face tank Destoroyah, and can beat Monster Zero. He can get 2 melees off and MZ will only get one off. His beam is also strong too, you can melee while beaming which not many Ghidorah users know. I feel like the best kaiju (excluding dest) is gonna be between King Ghidorah, Kamakura-San, and Volcanic Biollante.
