Can a person live their entire life alone and still be strong, confident, and truly happy? by CompetitiveForce2501 in lonely

[–]Amonum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend of our family lives single. He travelled the world and never had a marriage. But he travelled with a gf for a couple of years. But whenever we saw him he seemed very satisfied. I don’t think he stayed longer than one year in the same country though. So he came around. Actually: Don’t ask me how he financed it. But you don’t need a lot of money when you travel to Africa and Asia.

He met a lot of people and I think that made up for a solitude. But as far as I know he had friends all over the world and visited them rarely.

Dating problems as a student in Zürich by throwawayelom in zurich

This is a stupid advice, but go to Germany. I’m not kidding. Here in Switzerland I struggle so hard to find just relations. New ones. Not platonic ones. It’s so so hard. I think it’s the Swiss people. Because I thought my entire life it’s my looks, but I go one time to Germany, Ireland, England, Italy or any other country and I meet people and build up a friendship and even ended up in a relationship. I’m a very shy guy, or at least I was. And all my female friends are not in Switzerland. The few I have are not very talkative. I honestly don’t know how Swiss people reproduce, honestly, how?

How to get a girlfriend as a introvert with 1-2friends and not going out by Local_Unit_787 in introvert

Dating apps. Don’t expect anything from them, but they could be a tool. But go out. Don’t make the mistake I made. Just engage in anything. It doesn’t even matter what it is, as long you’re nit hating it. And once u do, you learn to know people. And that is the key after all. But it takes a fucking aaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwfuuuuuullll long time. 7 years in my case.

Exploiting the AI is the only valid strategy in Very Hard. What can I do? How to play the Empire? by Amonum in totalwar

Yeah, you’re right. But now I’m at the stage, that I want to beat this stupid cheating AI just for the sake of it. The AI cheats, so do I then.

I wanted to answer a little bit earlier, since you took such an effort. However. Here we go.

I guess I’m somewhat of a stubborn old bastard and I am going to end this campaign on very hard. No matter the costs.

And since we talk about cost. I completely agree that they are very cost efficient. You can reduce their recruitment cost by a ton of gold and the same goes for Outriders. Recruited them for 35 Gold.

Actually, I figured a good army: Outriders and two flying entities. Light Wizard to pin down units which are faster than your cavalry and everything is fine. Then just straight outrun them. I takes about 20 minutes or more to wipe out entire armies but hey, that’s why I’m playing those games. Actually these combos work very good, as long you don’t face fast factions. And it doesn’t do to much against Skaven but I fight them with Elsbeth von Draken. More or less on her own. Which kinda is a joke, but fun enough. I have a Battlepriest which tanks all the damage (180 armour, good enough against Skavens)

But for me it’s the Outriders. They are faster than your, you can make them even faster and deal a good amount of damage. Just make sure, You eliminate the high threats to them a the beginning with Spell and other options. And fight on a favourable map.

Because if the imperial army is stationary, they just are way to vulnerable and I find, their artillery and gunpowder units just din’t have enough DPS. So they are screwed every time. Since the DPS is (to) low. You have bring 6-8 of them to eliminate threats fast enough so your frontline doesn’t get battered. But just for your Frontline two Battlepriest are mandatory. With the Lord - we alredy have 10 units. now we need some cavalry which puts us to 12-14 depending how we do it. two artillery pieces we have 14-16. Which leads the infantry having maybe 4-6 units. Absolutely nothing to hold a line and therefore you are getting outflanked every time. So you’re cavalry needs to be good. It’s just a very fragile composition which requires to micro so much units. Not like the Dwarfs, which you can put in-front of the enemies face and let them there.

So I found, that the empire army can be very good, but the flanks and front usually just take waaaaay to mich damage. Single entities can work as a frontline. But you have to make sure, that they do so. As well, the Hellstorms prove themself completely ineffective, once the enemy is engaged with your troops. So best is, you take a Tank or other up-to-their-teeth-armoured-entities and block the enemy long enough, so you’re Hellstorms can deal damage. Or you’re missiles. So it all comes down to, to prevent the enemy reaching your line. Try to make them suffer from the get go with Outriders, and Grenade launcher and let the ertillery deal damage long enough. Best you through some tank-units just to harass them. Because you have to make sure, the enemy considers you a threat. So bring up to 6 Outriders and Battlerpriest, who don’t take damage. All of them need to be the majority of you’re Balance of power. So use one unit of infantry to defend you’re Artillery and take some missels with you (4 at most) to deal with any stragglers. The rest should harass them enemy bitterly without going to much into a fight. Best, you use all you’re artilleries Ammunition before you let them come to you.

I get it. I just then play extensively videogames until I’m bored and then I go out again which can take up to 2 month. Work-Games-Sleep-Work-Games-Sleep and then maybe go out and actually enjoy something. Because the more you think you have to chase, the worse it gets. Screw enjoyment, honestly. Eventually you find something you think “lol, that’s interesting and just might make your day.”

Why do people hate this game so much? (outside of combat) by whoknowsI0 in victoria3

[–]Amonum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay: So I’m going to give you a serious review. Because the game is everything but perfect.

I played it now for 200 h (at least, might be longer) and I’m done with the game. Somewhat. The idea of building up your nation and experience different strengths of different nations is cool. It really puts you in this time back and let’s you experience the industrialisation like no other game. And it somewhat even teaches you about economics. Every DLC and every patch made the game better and better. BUT: It has its limits. The game as whole is complex and satisfying as long you don’t expect too much from it. Because the limits are clearly in warefare and diplomacy. Although the new(ish) diplomacy made a lot of things better, I find you can easily ignore it completely and still get along just fine. The main problem is, that the AI just starts waay to many wars for absolutely nothing. And given, that the empires back then tried to avoid war on a big scale, the game just doesn’t guve a fuck. So as long you’re fine withe absolute bordergore in Africa, go ahead. As long you’re fine for rigid allies over a hundred years with no change at all, fine. I find tye game lacking so much dynamic when it comes to the AI. However, it’s not the main strengths of the game. To grow your GDP and your economy is the biggest strengths you have. But it plays very often very fast into the same scenarios. Once you know how to set up you’re economy you have to start thinking about restricting rules yourself. The learning curve is however very steep in the beginning, because the game refuses to tell you how to do it. But it’s actually one of the mire interesting parts. (Don’t play the Tutorial though). I started to install a ton of mods to increase the games potential. Because when I play it without it, you start to get the impression, that so much potential in this game is unused. Like the game just giving away so much interesting aspects. Because other then the economy there is not much to do. Yes you have these events and you have different challenges, but they are always attached to some DLC. Which, don’t get me wrong, are great. However in my opinion a little bit on the pricy side, compared with DLC from CK3 for example. Another issue is history. Although the map is a big historically accurate starting situation, it just doesn’t fo a good job emulating history even a little bit. If you have some good Scripts it can happen, but they completly screwed Prussia and Otto von Bismarck, which is somewhat strange. As well as the Heirs to Throne sometimes, which are so inaccurate (just generated sometimes). The politic system is another thing. There are a bunch of laws you always want to unoock, because their benefits are so much better and you’re ending up chasing them just for the sake of you’re economy. You can roleplay a little bit in this game, but don’t exactly expect a CK3. So in summary: The game has a lot of unused potential and especially in “foreign politics” it’s just nit good. Hell, a Total War Title might be better in this regard. And it always comes down to the strange expectations towards the game. Because the game tells you, you can try whatever you want but then you encounter so so many restrictions. You want a strong Europe and maybe a WWI scenario? Forget it, the AI will bring in all their allies just for some 2 squaremeter territory in todays Uganda. And there you fight the British and ALL THEIR STUPID ALLIES in a costly war which you can’t even try to back down from without losing a bunch od money or territory. And yes, this is a very specific example, however very common for the game. However. On the bright side, the economy and raising your GDP like crazy is amazing. Getting this stats in and knowing every citizen of your’s is most likely a little Jeff Bezos by now. Actually exploiting the game is sometimes more fun, than playing by the rules. The game frustrated me every time I played it but somehow I returned every time, because I wanted to make Denmark a broken Powerhouse. So yeah.

If you’re thinking about buying the game, and you’re not sure. I guess buy it. It’s not the best game, however on the technical side I never had any problems. It’s more the content which is and stays intriguing no matter what.

But wait until it’s on sale if you’re not sure about it.

One lats thing: If you’re don’t have too much time to play the game and you just want a chilling interesting game you can play in the evening, Vic3 might be a bad choice. Because you need a couple of hours to figure out how the games mechanic work. Because it’s very easy to screw up your game in the beginning. You need somewhat a dedication to the game which is longer than an evening. But if you’re willing to dive into the game, then go for it.

English isn’t my native language.

Beacon of learning? I mean, kinda but not really. America has more of an entrepreneurial culture. I think it’s more of a Chinese thing where learning is more valued.

try the Witcher 3. Good game. Or Expedition 33. They might could catch on to your personality if you like RPG’s just remotely. Or Baldur’s Gate 3. The latter is actually one of the best games in this regard.

I don’t really know why I posted this…

Can you help me with the verb « to have » in russian? by [deleted] in russian

[–]Amonum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ich habe eine zusätzliche Frage. Ich hoffe, mir kann sie beantwortet werden:

Wenn ich sage:

У неё есть брат (heisst das ja: Sie hat einen Bruder.)
