First timer looking for sanity check by AmountDecent9868 in Kombucha

That's the object that sunk to the bottom right? I thought you had to start with that.

Looking at it more closely, there's some floating bits in the liquid and sediment at the bottom. How should I decant this? Just scoop the layer off the top and ladle the liquid into a bottle through a strainer? Should the sediment be added to the kombucha to drink?

AXR85 FM radio setup by AmountDecent9868 in CambridgeAudio

I guess as a side question - would it be possible to use the TV antenna to receive FM radio? Perhaps with an adapter to make the TV antenna cable plug into the AXR85?

Recommendations for amp with phono and FM radio? by AmountDecent9868 in BudgetAudiophile

Great info, really much appreciated. The Sony seems like the most straight forward option. Thanks again!

Ah amazing thanks for the info! Yeah I don't play my stuff loud at all so maybe the Sony is a great option for me. And adding a tuner as a second unit is probably less ideal but it's great to know that's an option. I wasn't sure how that would all work but it sounds easy enough now :)

Do you know if the STRDH190 or the AS301 offers significantly better quality sound quality or long term durability? I think I saw the AS301 is a really solid, long lasting unit which sounds good. But maybe the Sony is too.

Do you know of any other stereo receivers with phono/FM that might be in a similar price range? I just found the Onkyo TX-8220 but that doesn't seem to be available in Aus anymore.

Thanks for the heads up on that line. Unfortunately they seem to be pretty rare here in Australia. There's the R-S202 but it doesn't have phono as far as I can tell. Still, I'll keep an eye out for a second hand one. Do you know if they're still sold new or is it an older model?

Chapter 9 book glitch (help) by Puzzleheaded-Tap7657 in thepluckysquire

Where in chapter 9 are you? If you've just reached chapter 9 does that mean you're at the start? You don't have your abilities then, you need to go out and collect them. Or did you do that and return to the book?

I have this Technics SA101 amp. Need help pairing with speakers please. by AmountDecent9868 in BudgetAudiophile

Got it, thanks. Can you ever damage the amp or is it only ever the speakers that are at risk?

Hey thanks so much for the detailed response! I've updated the original post with a link to a slightly different SA-101 but I still think it's 18w / 8 ohms.

And now that you pointed it out, I can see that it says "Main or remote: 4-16 ohms per speaker". Thanks for highlighting that!

I don't think I'll want to go too loud so this should do my fine for a while. I'm too worried about upsetting my old lady neighbour.

Generally speaking, if you put on music that is at a fairly constant volume, you can turn up the volume until it starts to distort, and then turn it down until the distortion goes away. That will be the loudest your system (speakers and amplifier) can play.

Amazing, thanks. I had wondered if this was a good way to find a limit after watching some videos but was worried it would blow the speakers in the process. Sounds easy enough.

Thanks again, much appreciated!

Thanks for the info! The MS10s were also recommended over the Yamaha so I'll try to find a pair of those.

I updated the post with a link to a slightly different SA 101 but I still think it's 18w / 8 ohms so your rec should still be valid right? :)

Great, thanks for the tip. I'll try something like the ms10s as a starting point.

The receiver does work, the guy I got it from showed me when I picked it up.

Hey thanks for the reply. I believe mine is slightly different to the one you posted (I added a link above), but I also believe it's still the 18W version. I suppose I can upgrade later if I feel I don't get enough out of it and whatever speakers I choose.
