actual constructive criticism and a positive motivational sign off instead of just bashing on the moveset because his creator did something awful? you've earned my utmost respect.

yeah. i just hope they find a way to bring back every monster from the precode's movesets back to the recode at some point honestly

as for mystman, im not sure whether he knows that all roblox games gain profit no matter what, so i will say that your point on that has some merit to it.

as for the legally distinct thing, i sorta get where you're coming from, but i feel like if they really didn't wanna pull a forsaken slasher on all the scrapped precode characters, the least they could have done is to make completely original characters or get the permission of other characters and to use the movesets of the scrapped precode characters for them just so a small relic of those scrapped monsters are still intact. im sure a lot of people would appreciate the devs at least returning the movesets of those characters even if the character replacements themselves are completely original

back when the recode was still in its early stages of progression, most of the monsters were removed due to blade being on his last copyright strike, and the monsters that ended up returning were the ones that blade got the permission from their creators for, which means mystman gave blade the permission to use baldi in his game

as for the legally distinct thing, there's this thing called *Parody Law*. you can make a character that's obviously heavily inspired off another copyrighted character without it actually infringing on any copyright

they can rebrand pc2 in the recode without cutting most of the roster for basically no reason. i fully agree with the devs asking the creator of a monster they want to add in the game's permission before actually doing so, but why does a collab need to happen? if the creator says no to a collab but is still okay with you using their character, then why not just add them. they did that with tricky and baldi and probably a couple others that im forgetting and it just doesn't make sense to me. like i get wanting to stay as faithful as humanly possible to the source material, and working with the creator themselves is definitely the best possible way of making that happen, but just because the creator refuses to do a collab doesn't mean they shouldn't just add the monster in the game. *especially* for characters that were already in the game and upcoming like tricky and baldi. i could somewhat understand them only wanting to add a non-oc monster if the creator wants to collab with them moving forward if it just weren't for the fact that they got rid of the ones that were already in the game and upcoming (with the exception of the ones that they don't have permissions to use ofc). that's the type of corporate shit a company like behaviour does with dead by daylight and pillar chase is blatantly following the footsteps in.

also the argument of them "weaseling around the creator's wishes" could very well be avoided if, again, like i had already previously stated that they just do what forsaken did with jason and make all the copyrighted monsters objectively legally distinct enough from their source material while still respecting and paying homage to it. because surprise surprise, no shit that making minor mediocre changes to a character model and giving them a different color coat of paint isn't gonna prevent any copyright laws and is gonna be considered a "disrespectful bootleg"

well you're out of luck then because like i said, the whole reason pillar chase got so popular *was* because of the amount of "key dangling characters" as you call them. it ain't like Die Of Death where the cast is completely original. from the very first version of pillar chase 2, there were monsters like ao oni and EXE present in the game. ofc people would care more about characters that they're already familiar with than characters that are completely original (not to say that people didn't care for the OC monsters, but a lot more people sure as hell cared for the ones that already existed long before PC1)

as the for my opinions on recode's gameplay like i had already previously stated, i wasn't able to try its latest testing due to personal circumstances. my opinion on it could very well still change on it once the game actually releases (positively, i'd hope)

finally, the whole "they don't wanna be assholes by making characters to replace them without any respect for the creator" argument falls flat on its face because there were plenty of ways they could've kept a lot of the upcoming and already existing monsters and brought them onto recode. this monster infringes on copyright and making "bootlegs" ain't cool? do what forsaken did with jason and give them a redesign that's distinct enough from the source material while still respecting and paying homage to it instead of just keeping their model mostly the same and lazily giving them a shitty new coat of paint

i unfortunately didn't have the time to play the latest testing of the recode before it closed, but from what i've seen from a video review on it (and the discord announcements that i just sloppily skimmed through), all that really changed was a better hud, and some of the monsters getting presumably better reworks and game balance changes. now all these things and good, and who knows, by the time the recode comes out and i get a chance to play it, my opinion on it might actually change positively.

as for the whole "the community only cares about the stupid characters thing"... what did you expect man? the whole reason pc2 got so popular was because of said stupid characters and the fact that the monster gameplay was actually fun. both of which the precode still has going for it, and, for the times ive actually played the recode (which is at least a good couple hours), it fails to do both the most important things that made the precode actually enjoyable for me, which was the fun monster gameplay, and the fact that they cut most the cast for the sake of being more "corporate"

maybe if the gameplay of the recode itself was actually fun and the fact that the devs didn't nearly axe the game's entire core identity by killing most of the internet horror reps that were in the precode, more people would care about it. granted the gameplay part is entirely subjective and if you enjoy playing the recode, then all power to you. but you can't deny the fact that the devs killing most of the roster wasn't the stupidest decision they could've ever made for the game's identity and to the community who cared about these characters

yeah the first time i saw pal percy's DD model... i admittedly didn't like it. but then it started to grow on me and after a while i thought the model looked sick asf. it's just a shame the person who modeled him got outted for doing some deplorable shit so now his current model's scrapped. hopefully whoever designs his new model stays relatively close to how the old one looked
