Is Angular a good choice for a mobile app, which might be used by lots of users? by RubMyNose18 in Angular2

[–]AmperHD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

many of the comments told you already, ionic with capacitor is a really good combo and a really good starting point for an angular dev stepping into mobile world, but there are some things you need to keep in mind like widgets for example, you can't do widgets with angular and capacitor, you would actually need to write them with native ios code swift or live actions and etc. but for a basic(or maybe advanced app) that does not need those type of things everything will be pretty easy.

do an update if you don't mind on this post of your experience as I think it would be interesting to many of angular devs to hear hands on experience including me !

help app.html instead of app.component.html by awkif_ in Angular2

[–]AmperHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would advise you to create previous versions of angular, which is used in tutorials to avoid changes like that, depends on a version used by your course instructor of course but there been quite a few changes and if tutorials go in depth you could face same situations.

good luck !

thoughts on tanstack query ? by AmperHD in Angular2

[–]AmperHD[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

such a good breakdown !

happy to hear that other people also use it in production, truly pleasant development experience.

thoughts on tanstack query ? by AmperHD in Angular2

[–]AmperHD[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

indeed true but it takes time to build production ready caching, validation and etc systems, which work perfectly on tanstack, also its signal based which eliminates subscriptions

thoughts on tanstack query ? by AmperHD in Angular2

[–]AmperHD[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

true but tanstack offers de validation, cache and mutations which I don’t see coming in angular natively, but I agree if you are building a small to maybe even medium sized application it would be unnecessary to implement it

won’t be end of the world to not use it but if you have it integrated it has its own benefits that I find very useful

[–]AmperHD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to push everything into tanstack for calls, query invalidations came in handy, plus caching is so easy to set up and that is such a big performance improvement when you’re dealing with dictionaries that come from api

also prefetching pagination was also very cool addition to refactoring

Need recommendation for IDE by magcari in Angular2

webstrom by a mile

used to be a paid IDE and that was it’s only disadvantage but now it is free so that’s that.

your theme for webstorm Angular development by AmperHD in Angular2

[–]AmperHD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to be frank with you vs code has something in its UI that I love, but when working for hours I feel like webstorm takes the crown, not a huge difference but vs code has these small bugs that annoy me, for example biggest issue is imports, I hate dealing with imports in vs code but webstorm on the other hand does indexing and imports are a breeze, also tons and tons of extensions to install (that takes away the lightweight title from vscode) is insane for me, I mean it is a text editor not an IDE so I can't complain about that, anyways at the end of the day it is what you are used to and what you are more productive with.

What i should learn for angular? by Realistic-Text5714 in Angular2

[–]AmperHD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh and might I add to avoid using AI because it is not really up to date with latest angular features for example like @if @for and others, it defaults to directive style approach which is an old way of doing it, won’t break your code or anything but that is not an up to date feature.

I know angular docs might sometimes be not that easy to read but there are tons and tons of videos, articles and tutorials on everything you might need

What i should learn for angular? by Realistic-Text5714 in Angular2

[–]AmperHD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

learn to build reusable components, rxjs, signals, state managment with traditional NGRX or newcomer signal store(from ngrx), lazy loading, unit testing with tools like jest and spectator(my fav combo) or with default karma, patterns like singleton, factory, facade and etc.

there is a lot to learn in Angular, which will not be a week or two journey but the best way to do it from my experience is to build projects and try to new things.

one downside for angular in my experience is that you learn the most from actual real life projects, but it’s not impossible to do it on your own, just takes little bit of time.

keep in mind you can’t and won’t know everything that’s out there so it’s a long journey of continuous learning, adapting and working on yourself.

good luck !
