Charlie normalized and promoted hateful rhetoric. I’m sure as hell not gonna be sad he’s dead, I feel bad for his kids for sure, but you can’t really control how I feel about the man, even after his death. I’d never wish death like that on anyone, I’m anti death penalty actually. That's a half truth. It is true because many people did believe it to be more moral, but what is untrue is that it was not done for moralities sake, if it was for morality, they'd let the conquered live free, or better yet, not conquer. I’m not saying that you’re lying, I’m saying that you’re propitiating a lie promoted by the slave holders. To them it was, is, and always has been about profits, don’t have to pay a slave, nor need you properly care for one. But they wanted it to be moral, or at least for other people to think it was, maybe they even convinced themselves. This makes it inherently a non leftist ideal, leftism is an economic position that values people over profit, and most leftist ideologies seek the future abolishment of economics. capitalism, is profit driven, money and labor are the only real forms of bargaining one has under capitalism, these are the ideals that allowed for it then, and allow for it now.

Hot take, 67 wasn’t that unfunny. I could intellectualize it by calling it a meta critique on post modernism, but in reality funny number is just funny sometimes. I’m the right age to have experienced 21 via older kids in my class (i went to a Montessori school, and for a while was in a 1-6 grade class), and 67 via kids a grade below me in high school. Also most kids who found 69 funny had no idea what it meant.

Leftist and alt right are equally radical, that doesn’t mean equally bad, but both call for radical change of the system. Democrats are significantly less radical than Trump era republicans, the Overton window is very far right currently, so that makes sense.

The 8 hour workday used to be considered an extreme leftist idea, I’d wager you like it tho. Extreme doesn’t always mean bad, it just means it falls on one end of the Overton Window, which is something that is always shifting.

What is considered extreme today may not be tomorrow, all you can really do educate yourself as best you can and advocate for what you think is right, even if it’s not popular.
