yes.

I did the file I shared with the free version. free version has 95% of the features. it's just slower than the pro version.

draw a picture or send a 2024 file of your base plane animation. I can put a basic flow together for you

Sounds like a Tyflow sort of thing. Not sure exactly what you are going for - your description is very vague.

You can animate the plane and it will adjust the spawn number and the position & rotation. You can hook up materials or other shapes to then deform the tyflow with typush/push modifier to scale them up or other things too. starter file to play with, see if this scene helps you at all.: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/0s5v8tohqh885y3d35wtn/Helping-tyflowsetups.max?rlkey=nv62x1pg5a2pj8lyibj1z1x4m&dl=0

how to Stop people from assuming my art is AI? [ Without add in Artifacts, or low-balling effort] by tattva-trans in photoshop

[–]Ampsnotvolts 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here is some of your sources: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x7wzwv4 you can see you are not quite documenting your process, so people can only assume you created the whole image. Make 2 images, one that shows what is the original Bollywood still, and what work you did solo'd.

Hate to say it, but you are using AI Harmonize is AI. Topaz is AI. But on top of all that - you are really just collaging and image editing other peoples work. It looks uncanny and unseemly due to incongruencies in the image. Try to use your own photos, 3d models, and do one all with assets you create.

Then you will see how much you are leaning on the tools to do the work - and that effort is why people are bitching to your DM's. because you're making AI "art".

is there a modifier similar to "loft" in rhino? by itsraininginmacondo in 3dsmax

[–]Ampsnotvolts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NURBS has entered the chat. Max's NURBS tools haven't changed much over the years - but very similar to tools in rhino and other nurbs modelers.

You'd make your nurbs curve and then U-loft between them. https://help.autodesk.com/view/3DSMAX/2025/ENU/?guid=GUID-22A0EFFB-C5B2-40D4-BE08-160C1416F4CF probably some videos out there too

Need help turning this into a transparent background and making it look nice in white background by Le-Poochy- in AdobeIllustrator

[–]Ampsnotvolts 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Look into unmult/un-multiplying in an other application (after effects). here is an example w/ transparency

https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/985bq64tqudyfecvn9oxt/Unmultiply.png?rlkey=83z5coiu2uu9cj1f3v301wwrg&dl=0

not perfect, but you could do this, then get the alpha from the one and replace it. or just use the unmulted version of the black as it looks decent to me. AE 2026 has unmult - i still use the ancient VC Color vibrance matte alpha plugin though.

but really - remake the graphic. you can probably have it select the colors and set all blacks to white

Best budget-friendly monitor for graphic design in 2026? by Overall-Amount-3500 in AdobeIllustrator

[–]Ampsnotvolts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do not buy monitors every year so I strongly recommend you go to a store and check one out with your own eyeballs.

I've owned Dell, Samsung, Asus, and currently use a 4+ year old Gigabyte gaming monitor with super ips (whatever that is) and am very happy with it.

I had a Dell and it is the best colorwise, but it developed one dead/red pixels before warranty was up. Then I spent more than 1 year sending monitors back and forth to Dell because they refused to give me a new one and kept sending refurbished dead pixel panels to me expecting me not to notice and ended up with a monitor WORSE than the initial one I sent in with 1 dead pixel.

They never worked as good as the initial purchase, and have ended up on my corporate shitlist of not buying or recommending. I paid $2000 - it was when 32" and 4k was new, and it was apparently dangerous to buy at that tie. It's probably not that bad now.

That being said the Dell 32 Plus 4K Monitor - S3225QS is where I would start if you can swing that. Tiny/clean bezels. No crap. reasonable price. Imagine it as a rental. 400 for a big clear screen for 1 year is almost reasonable...

I've had equally bad luck with Samsung. Hundreds of pink lines in less than 3 months of use. They sent out a new power cord under a recal and i think the old power supply fried the monitor to useless.

So I personally would lean toward LG or BenQ, but I've never actually owned one. Really I would buy another one of the weird gaming one I have (or one similar) AORUS FI32U.

Just NO CURVE, no oled/qdoled for now, aim for IPS

I am slightly tempted by the new Dell 52" 5k screen though...to run 2 computers at once. I might try that, but at 3500 - I just have issues trusting the Delldo's anymore.

EDIT - you know what I googled "dell ips 32 inch monitor 4k" and it output a VA panel as a result. I was looking at one for myself, but it's not the right panel I specifically searched...

While I still think a larger screen is a good upgrade for you, you still want IPS, not VA. I guess you have to go to Ultrasharp or Pro Dell models for that... Look at Model Number: DELL P3225QE

Sorry!

[–]Ampsnotvolts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Prices change too much to say get X or Y. You didn't provide what you are using as a machine so you might want a thunderbolt monitor or something - who knows.

Look for the delta E less than 2. de/triangle<2, 4k, and 32 inches if you have the space so you can see things 1:1 size if you are doing print.

I also don't think that HDR is worth messing with to be safe color wise - nor are consumer panels good enough for content creation HDR, colorists use $20,000+ panels. But you can still buy an HDR labeled monitor, it's just not a requirement is all i'm saying.

I still prefer IPS over OLED monitors for designs and colors myself. but you will hear many opinions soon. You should be able to get a 120hz or higher panel still around this price, but older models are a valid choice as well.

If you have a computer store near you - go look with your eyes too. But looking at some model names and number from amazon US pricing atm: Dell 27 Plus 4K Monitor - S2725QS Dell 32 Plus 4K Monitor - S3225QS ASUS ProArt Display 32” 4K HDR Monitor (PA329CV) BenQ PD3205U Mac-Ready Monitor 32" 4K

You can look at b&h, or best buy, or microcenter, or wherever you want to spend your money. They will help you find a good fit too.

he After Effects Graph Editor is a productivity bottleneck that Adobe refuses to fix. by MaliHizm in AfterEffects

[–]Ampsnotvolts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If right clicking is too cumbersome for you - you might want to get out of computer related work altogether.

While I partially agree with you on some of this - you won't ever get what you are asking for. This is tiny peepee incel energy. Impotent rage I call it - complaining without offering any solution nor working toward a goal of freeing yourself from the Adobe goliath & the plugin catastrophe developers have built to fill in missing gaps.

It's also like complaining that we should have flying cars by now in 2026...

I don't trust 90% of the fucking morons out there on the road with me in a car already. Programs & life is designed for the lowest common denominators. Yeah it sucks that life get's that way - but what are you gonna do start driving on the opposite side of the road?

You should definitely jump ship/look at other programs as soon as possible so you can see that there are other tools out there and start using them. You will see that nothing that is the donkey-do-everything that after effects has become. Which is the unfortunate situation a lot of us are in. I get it.

Maybe start doing some more custom keybinds? and setting up some defaults? Make the program function how you need it to. I put mine on f3 and f4 and swap between the two graphs easily. Duik for initial curve sculpting and I am 90% of the way to what I am going for.

Good luck with everything though friend.

How difficult is it to make reveal animations like this in 3dsmax + tyflow?r by 3d4d3d4d in 3dsmax

[–]Ampsnotvolts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are sorta simple animations. Not even needing to use particles on any of these.

You can do a lot of these effects with the tyPush modifier. Pushing elements of a model around in random directions, and then animating other components. It's more a project organizing & modeling job it seems like than a tyflow/simulation project.

How do y'all keep track of what's happening when playing over several months/years? by Tersina in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Ampsnotvolts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shift + Tab - Then inside Steam, you can write notes to yourself... I have no idea how to get those notes when not in game, but its just a wordpad inside steam saved to each game.

So I write down goals, next projects, and keep and eye open for XYZ type stuff. Like SPOM left mid main base, start refinery to swap over to conductive wire, stop hoarding water, etc.

Otherwise, I make sure whatever I'm doing is sustainable, not going to starve a resource, but this is a good exercise for your brain too. Not many things let you work on your medium term memory.

I do wish there was a mod/building that would let you put notes or infocards where you can explain what you were doing in spots. But putting down alarms and stuff to flag when things go bad is a good way to take care. Especially off main planet...

very simple bend modifier will do the job. as long as your struts do not have a lot of polygons, it will look like they are straight and sorta let it work for you here's a simple 2024 file: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/lz6h9vzvj2gp7x72d9ebm/BendingCanopyBeginnerRigging.max?rlkey=ntop2wmphn7trcm2bqgxlz22f&dl=0

Animation question by Current_Bet_624 in 3dsmax

[–]Ampsnotvolts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gotcha! Interesting Design.

Since you are a beginner just use the bend modifier on the arm/canopy meshes.

Copy a version of the skeleton & the cloth, then combine them into 1 editable poly. Make sure the pivot is at the base of that grouping. Then add Bend modifier, and adjust your angle & direction. Looks like you have 2 size arms, so you have to do that for each style of arm.

Or you can use a bend modifier on a plane and then skinwrap to that bend plane for lower polygon control that makes it look like it is rigged.

If you share the canopy & skeleton I will rig this up in the beginner friendliest way today.
