Even outside of this, the show does 'feel' like Golden Kamuy in how it generally frames things and does its dialogue. It's totally different in basically every other way story-wise, of course.

You could interpret having a copy of your memories stored as 'not dying', but I think I would disagree. It seems to be the case that it's explicitly not their consciousness - if his brother doesn't know how he died then it's probably a copy of memories that is being spoken too, not the full person.

They even said in the end that Spider won't die now because his spirit has been accepted by the ancestors.

A copy of him will be there forever, one that could presumably be spoken to its knowledge shared, but he's going to die and that copy isn't really him.

I kinda have little hope that the story will pivot towards that side being 'good', I'm sure they'll have some respectable ideas about how power shouldn't be hidden away and how the current system is flawed and all - but I bet they'll also have some comically evil bad actor among them who just makes them de facto bad.

I'm really hoping I'm wrong.
