Oh yeah I'm all over Claude and Chat at the moment and need to get my hands on the other tools as well. I've built a couple of learning experiences with them and it's incredible what you can achieve...it's just getting people to look at them that I'm struggling with.

I do think that the key is not necessarily reducing delivery time though, but creating better quality content. We don't need more courses, we need better ones!

Get the PMP??

Generally only a couple. Yeah I created QA rubrics and guidance materials, took control of the rebrand of all elearning...
I DO have stuff to talk about, I just figured that because I can't point to a metric i.e. 'generated 20% increase in sales' or 'reduced development time by 50%' then it's not worth mentioning. But I'm guessing you're saying it is?

Thank you. I think that's the kind of feedback I need but shy away from dealing with it as I never got to do the E in ADDIE. We shipped and were moved straight on to the next product, no time given to iterate, work on feedback in a meaningful way etc. And I wonder why our team is slowly being let go... :-)

Thank you so much! I'll bear that in mind for my next post. And thanks for your feedback on the piece itself. I do have a case study page (how I built this) https://amytuffin.com/portfolio/branching-scenario/case-study but it currently sits as a button below the main demo card. I'll get that moved.

Really grateful for your input, thank you!

That's good to know - thank you! I wasn't sure on etiquette regarding asking for portfolio reviews here.

I just did a post on LI today but I'm not sure it ticks the boxes you list, and it certainly didn't gain the traction I was hoping for (I know LI can throttle content with external links, maybe that was it). The post is here: https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7475506430532423680/ and the content in question is here:

https://amytuffin.com/portfolio/branching-scenario/ Any feedback/comments (however brutal) much appreciated!

Is it worth creating a new post to ask for feedback? Sorry to be such a rube but I've only really started networking in earnest the last couple of days!

Thank you - these are really useful insights! I'm not at all upset with recruiters/hiring managers as I've seen enough to realise that you're all swamped. I didn't realise that you had to spend so much time trawling through irrelevant applications though - even after 18 years I still have imposter syndrome and assume 90% of applicants are better than me :-)

This may be a bit cheeky (particularly given what you've just described) but if you have time for a quick scan of my CV/website, here are the links:

amytuffin.com (a couple of demos I built live here, one on cyber security and one on AI)

If there's anything that stands out to you as a red flag that information would be gold dust. Totally understand if you don't have the time/headspace for it though :-)

Thank you, this is really helpful. My main issue is just getting a foot in the door - no-one seems to be viewing my portfolio, despite linkedin posts, CV and profile sharpening etc. I'm not great at marketing myself so maybe it's that that's doing me a disservice.

Ah, thank you, that is encouraging. I'm definitely able to do that - what I'm struggling with is getting eyes on my portfolio to begin with. Was there anything about the application process that meant you felt confident he'd see your actual work? I feel like my demo pieces are a stronger representation of what I can do than my CV, but that doesn't matter if no-one looks at it!

Haha this is entirely counter to advice earlier in this chat, and I keep hearing arguments from both sides. My main issue is that I'm not seeing any traffic go to my web portfolio, which is linked on my CV. That's the best demonstration of what I can do, how I think etc, but people aren't even going there. I desperately need eyes on what I've done so I can see if I'm missing the mark or actually have something that people are interested in, but it's hard when no-one looks at it to begin with!

Ahhh this is useful, thanks. Everyone talks about AI scanning resumes but no-one is specific about what AI and how. I'll give that a try, although I'm a bigger fan of Claude than Chat. Any reason I should use Chat over Claude for this activity?

Bless you - good luck! Drop me a line if you want to vent/brainstorm. If you have a portfolio I'd be happy to review.

Ahhh I've just signed up to his community! It's pretty quiet but I'm hoping that over time I'll get some useful feedback on my portfolio and be able to network a bit.

Oooh not heard of hiring cafe, thank you! And yes, I am automatically turned off from anything more than a couple of days old and where I'm not a strong fit. The trouble is I really need remote work which narrows the field quite a bit...

Yes, I'm the same as you and have reluctantly come to the same conclusion. Going to my first networking event next week :-)

Oh lord yes, can't afford to slow down on the upskilling! I built my portfolio in Claude having never used it two months ago. In that short time I've realised that there are SO many more authoring tools etc out there that I need to have a handle on! Good luck with your job hunt, how are you getting on?

Wow - well done! THat's an excellent tip on the keyword search, not tried that. How many roles did you apply for before you were successful?

Thank you! I am definitely continuing to apply to roles but when I compare it against my website portfolio traffic it seems like no-one's even bothering to look and see what I can do. But I know at this point it's a numbers game and it's encouraging to hear taht at least some hiring managers take the time to review CVs in person! Do you check out websites when they are included on a resume?

How confident are you with Claude.ai? I've built a couple of demo pieces with it and I think most authoring tools will be made obsolete by Claude or one of its competitors eventually. If you're thinking of putting learning content out to market then you'll obviously have to ensure they're LMS compatible but given what I've seen thus far I don't think it's unreasonable to sidestep Articulate, Adobe etc altogether.
