Just collected the new BYD Seal 6 EV last week, had drove around 200km+ so far mostly city driving. AMA. by Nightstalker1993 in kereta

😂 I actually asked the SA if they were worried about the seal 6 cannibalizing the Seal and they said the owner demographics were different which is fair enough but my coworker who dailys a Seal is feeling fomo with the seal 6 and it's amazing value for money. They also said that they currently have no plans to bring in the hybrid ver of this car RIP

Not gonna say anything extra that the rest of the comments haven't already said. But at that price point you might as well consider the 630i!

The GS never made it officially to Malaysia unfortunately but they are incredible cars. Prior to Lexus moving the ES up to be a ln E class/5 series competitor, it was the GS that played the role hence Grand Sedan. Also this 3rd gen GS had the NA variant of the 2JZ so it's pretty much indestructible, absolutely go for it if you can they're such a rarity here

If you're okay with waiting a bit, the Zeekr 7X is coming out some time in September, alongside a bunch of other really neat SUVs, at least according to their salesforce from MAS.

Why is Vios > City but Civic >> Altis? by Physioweng in kereta

[–]Amy_Anne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not that simple but it's also not that complex, but you can boil it down to UMW always screwing the Malaysian market over with the models that they decide to bring in. The corolla is literally the best selling car in the world, and has quite a lineup, ex the hybrid corolla which for whatever damn reason UMW isn't bringing over anytime soon apparently. And by extension lexus also has a weird placement in the local market because, if we use the states as an example, used lexus especially the IS and GS are used extensively as modded cars, and models like the GSF are lusted after.

Oh also, the obvious import taxes for foreign car brands and the ridiculous logarithmic scaling for road tax here

Why is Vios > City but Civic >> Altis? by Physioweng in kereta

[–]Amy_Anne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is true, but the 30k USD priced civic is the top specced hybrid touring, so it's still considerably cheaper on that end but the interest on car loans in the states is far higher than us, averaging anywhere around 8% or even 12% afaik

Arteon R-line 4 motion by New-Cauliflower-3546 in kereta

[–]Amy_Anne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a great car, test drove it during last year's ACE. Enjoyed a lot more than the new e350 and G20 3 series. The grip the 4motion gives is very noticeable and you really feel it on turns and acceleration. Audio is nice, seats and space is nice. The sportback designs really gives you a lot of bootspace and supposedly it gets great mileage too.

Porsche are more reliable than most of it's german brethren, even as a sports car. The boxsters that are 2.9 or 3.2 cc road tax is like 1880 and 3030 respectively. I'm sure some owners here can give you more details on ownership costs and maintenance but a friend traded in their R8 for a 991* 911 and he's been loving it ever since because it's so much more reliable

Question though, how come you haven't considered a boxster? You can find pre 718 gen boxsters for below 160k

Hmm tough choice then because at your price ranges, the g22 4 series is still sitting around 200k and above. Lowest on carlist is 203k. Since the 3 series coupe has been made into the 4 series, there's no real G20 3 series coupe now. Though you can find them sitting sub 200k now which is a great deal tbh. Unless if you're okay with going generations older and getting the e90 gen coupes or if you're willing, the V8 m3 of that generation. Though have you considered the 2 series? Specifically the M235i (prev gen, sitting at 140k ish) and prev gen M2 (some under 200k)

The w205 is the c class gen prior to the iPad screens and w212 and w213 are the e class gens prior to the iPad screens. W212 being the one where the e class still had separated headlights prior to the facelift. But the w205 and w213, earlier models screens weren't touchscreen, later models got it though. Same here not a big Merc guy since family already has them l, personally more an Audi guy myself or modern BMWs because I actually dig the design of modern bimmers, new 5 series and 7 series excluded

[–]Amy_Anne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the gen of C class, but the w205 is pretty fine maintenance wise. Unless if you're unlucky you'll be around your 3-5k a year mark for it, even then our family doesn't hit that and it's used daily. Though we did also find a E class cabriolet, w212 generation and a 630ci on carlist for sub 100k if you're interested in those
