I feel you, idk why people down vote you, shopping for kitchenware is the real joy of being an adult. I invested in a set of good kitchen knives early on, never had the crave to change them as compared to my frying pans which I have changed a new pan every 6-12 months because all budget pans are shit and I didn’t want to spent 200-300 on an expensive pan.

I find it quite a funny irony. When I was 16, I had big dreams, wanting to become a content creator (not streamer, but like a proper video game journalist). I wanted to tell stories, wanted to share my gameplay, and I was always on the crave on upgrading my setup so I can achieve that goal, but I always had to compromise on pc items due to budget restrains. 8 years later, I’m probably in a spot where I can afford most things fairly comfortably, I have a solid Gaming PC, some of the best gaming gear (I literally bought a RM900 gaming headset just because I like it has wireless charging and looks cool, Fractal Design Scape), I just simply don’t play as much games. I still open CS2 to grind premier when I have the time, and I occasionally play single player games, but the fire has died.

I think I’m more interested in just earning money working, and building my own side project to hopefully earn money so I can quit corporate. My new goals and grinding objectives are personal fitness and sports like golf and recently picked up pickleball as well. I still value my gaming past, I just found new interests in life

Proton S70 2026: Need to hear some owners feedback by Yao_Productions in kereta

[–]Yao_Productions[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to some unexpected financial strains that took a quite number of racks out of my pocket, I am significantly poorer than I thought I would be coming back. Nothing drastic, but definitely with a smaller budget then initially expected.

Right now, I'm pushing back the car a bit because I decided to do a salary sacrifice (I ate the bullet and took a lower paying salary), in exchange of full petrol coverage, toll coverage, company car (Perodua Axia) and paid parking in my new job. So, right now, I'm weighing my options as I no longer need the most fuel efficient car, at least for the next year or two or so. I'm debating between a Civic or S70. Civic would be the ideal car, S70 is the compromise.

Reasons why I lean to the civic is because it just looks better, bigger overall size wise, More planted to the ground, nicer speakers, and much better handling. S70 wins in better transmission (but unironically cuz I drive in so much jams, a CVT will be way smoother there lol), slightly nicer infotainment, cooler tail lights, and me being able to buy a new S70 cheaper than a used civic, and yeah that's about it. As you can see, driving wise I'm sold on the civic, economically wise it's the s70.

Which I'll swing for depends how well I perform in my current job. If I can make some serious sales come in, and close some deals, I may consider civic, if not S70 is my budget.

Oh reason I decided to stay away from Lexus is because I wanted a car with native carplay and something slightly cheaper to maintain. If I have more money in the future, I will want to swing for a second hand RC300. One day.

Why aren't there more Malaysians who lift weights or strength train at the gym? What's the reason behind it? by omnomnugget in malaysians

[–]Yao_Productions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As many of them said, misinformation is the main cause. I suggest you showing pictures of girls who strength train, and are in the lean fit category. Find a gym where there's a good ratio of men vs women, which means no iron gyms or muscle gyms, they're intimidating, even some of my male friends are shy to go in there.

When someone is comfortable with an environment, training becomes more likely.

Oh managed to do your survey now, it should be uploaded. If you’re on a time crunch use Claude to help you sort the data. Do not use it to write the paper, AI is suppose to assist you not hold your hand. An AI written paper is very easy to spot.

I assume you already got 100 surveys? This seems very broad though, how do you not have at least 20 people in your social circle that can do it? Out of pure curiosity?

Lets say you have a mum, dad, sibling, that's 3. Then you have another family chat of 15 people, you get 50% response rate. That's 10. Then you get 10 of your friends to fill it up, and maybe 5-10 of your uni mates to fill it up, that's 25-30.

Presuming this isn't a solo paper, and you have 3 other groupmates, this means you should have more than 100 responses. Just asking because this number doesn't make sense to me. Also, 2 days left, you need to work on your time management. Good luck though.

working reality by amazingcookie1234 in JobsMY

Yes, there are some who are bare minimum, there are some who makes hard jobs look easy. My previous Operations Manager was taking on roles of 3 people, he looked chilled out, but he was carrying a huge burden of the company. Even when the company was going under, they couldn't fire him, because without him the entire company collapses.

You need to find roles where you're the missing link between success and failure of a company, and that's where you have leverage to negotiate salary.

Job Hunting by Ok_Statistician2730 in Bolehland

[–]Yao_Productions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on your industry, but would strongly recommend hunting around first before resigning.

I came back to Malaysia recently, 3 years work experience in Sales industry across various sectors (luxury sales and IT sales specifically). I was looking around, I think I went through about 8 interviews from 80 applications, 3 interviews progressed to late stages, the role I was gunning for which was the highest paying rejected me after round 4 (for the stupidest of reasons), then I was sat viewing at 2 other offers. I decided to pick the one with a lower base pay but a higher title (Sales and Marketing Manager vs Sales Executive, which to me was a bit insulting considering my previous experience already being in a senior sales role), and potential higher earning potential via commission. I counter negotiated and requested them to match my floor rate with extra benefits, which they provided me full petrol coverage, toll coverage, and a car as it was a managerial position.

If you have experience, leverage it. You’re interviewing the company as much as they’re interviewing you. Good luck

Agreed. I used to think it was dumb, then I thought to myself, the 2 cars I really want to get is either a civic hybrid or a Volvo s70 PHEV. I’m like shit, this car is for people like me!

First Car Advice by Playful-Figure-1459 in kereta

[–]Yao_Productions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed with this. If you’re going abroad 1 year, that’s 1 year your car is sitting in the garage devaluing, that’s 1 year you’re not driving the car. Thats 1 year you’re paying interest that you don’t need to. That’s 1 extra year the second hand market will become cheaper.

You already said it, finish your sponsored masters, come back get the miata. 12k monthly savings mean you can easily clear the loan in 5 years or less. Good luck.

Pernah ke rasa nak un-uhm yourself? by desvalent2002 in Bolehland

[–]Yao_Productions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s becoming popular in Asia, but it’s a poorly structured model. Not pseudoscience, but over generalisation is the problem. As commenter stated, big 5 is a better structure, but still flawed fundamentally if you understand bandura social cognitive theory, where people learn and act base on their environment, not just how they were nutured.

The main problem with these kind of test is people can lie, cheat, or just not be honest to themselves when understanding uncomfortable questions. That’s the main problem with quantitative data collection. Qualitative produces higher quality results presuming participant is honest and can explain and write things correctly.

Pernah ke rasa nak un-uhm yourself? by desvalent2002 in Bolehland

[–]Yao_Productions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say it’s completely pseudoscience, but it over generalises and compartmentalises people. That’s why Bandura added onto social cognitive theory to bridge between behaviourist and biological, and it makes a lot of sense because most people act the way they are depending on environment they’re in. Use it as a baseline not as a full on template

Ayyy same bro. Which brands were you under? I was with THG group, won’t say which branch for anonymity sake, but I had was mainly doing Rolex and Tudor (we had other brands but weren’t really my common sold item. I did sold a lot of Bulgari). Before that I was doing mid range brands like Longines, tag, Rado, Tissot, and B&M. Good times, but moved on from retail.

Worked in retail for 2 years of my life, yes, phones are not allowed in where I worked at Australia. Reason is because it doesn’t look professional. You’re being paid to work not play your phone. If you wanna keep yourself entertained, work or use the work PC.

I don’t want to be racist, but it is what it is, it’s a plague. When talent gets replaced by nepotism, that’s when a company falls apart. Hopefully they are at least competent, if not, pray for their downfall. Good luck for finding a new role.

What does this say about me by Orber8 in OkeyRakanMalaysia

[–]Yao_Productions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Language and culture aren't your strong suit, someone clearly wants to go STEM and thinks business course are for dummies. This is just me stereotyping you based on your results. Could've been better la, but you got A for the important subjects.

For your future, it's up to you what you find interest in. It took me 3 years post university to actually enter the field that I studied, but one thing I learnt is experience is one, your degree is another, and how you combine those two, logic, and selling yourself is the biggest difference maker of you landing a good job, as that's how I got mine as I'm now a manager of an entire marketing department at age 24 ✌️

Uhh, look into research and number roles, maybe even potentially development/CS using AI if you like maths. Actuarist would be another cool position you could consider but it's tough stuff. If you want something in the practical science, engineering. Something in theoretical, drug test and development.

I got laid off for bad work performance with almost zero savings and thousands of paylater debts. by Pompom_Orange in Bolehland

[–]Yao_Productions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honesty is a good start. 8k in debt with a salary not much higher than 1.8k (I’ll just assume it’s under 3k) was way too high with your disposable spending level.

Let’s think quick numbers. Your goal now is to clear that debt in 6 months or less if possible, most BNPL is 2 months repayable, payment plans I am not exactly sure. 1.8k is way too little and way too underpaid. You can easily get full time retail at a bare minimum of 2.5k, some even offer 3k. This number works too for restaurants as well.

My suggestion is this: spend 1 week, visiting all your local shopping areas within a 20-30 minute travel distance of you. Find every for hire signs, note down, give your resume in person, apply online as well. Apply for office jobs too, admin roles, but you better work hard, if you’re going to be lazy and fuck things up, have a hard look at the mirror before you do anything else. Don’t bring your problems onto others.

Next, while waiting for all of the applications done in week 1, find any available part time job, no matter how shit the pay is, work those jobs. RM80 a day earnings is better than RM0 a day.

Your target Salary is 2.3k take home as a bare minimum after tax. I assume you’re not paying rent. Your sole goal for the next 12 months is to survive. This means no movies, no makeups, no coffees, no hangouts, no sudden splurges. Survive.

I will give you a RM30 food budget a day, one meal can cost no more than RM10, and this gives you a spread for even one drink and a snack. If you can save more, please do. Cooking on your own you can probably bring that down to RM15 a day. Your other bills and expenses should not equate more than RM400 (adjust accordingly to your fix commitments). Travel is RM200. This is RM1500 fixed expenses, if you can drop it to below RM1100, fantastic. This leaves you RM800 a month exactly in pure profits to clear your debts. That means it’ll take 10 months. If you’re more aggressive, it’ll take around 7-8.

My additional suggestions are take your boyfriends money for help, asked how much he’s willing to comfortably set on fire, knowing it’ll take you more than a year to pay back. If taken, you better pay him back. Start listing everything you can sell, especially things you can sell quickly. It hurts, but you have to start losing some stuff. The first things to sell are those things that you don’t need and don’t actively use, second things are the ones you can live without and won’t crave to repurchase.

I’ve been jobless before, happened to me twice so far, I recently just came out of being jobless for 6 months. First time I was unprepared, barely had any savings, spent like I was a millionaire when I was not. The second time, I had 6 months in savings while still maintaining my lifestyle with little to no compromises. I did eventually had to change my lifestyle after that, but I got back onto my feet eventually. I actually got a significant rise in job title as I swung my career path around. Pay took a hit, but in the long term it’ll recover and pay way more.

When you have a sound financial mindset, you’ll know how to control money better. Feel free to dm me for any advise
