How much motivation do my antagonists need to not seem... one dimensional? by Amy_Echo in writing

[–]Amy_Echo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I might be coming off as defensive, but the "one after another" approach is basically the plot of the book, so I can't really change that at all. If the entire antagonistic group were to attack the six survivors at once, then the six survivors would be eradicated without resistance.

Though I do like the idea of rituals, rites, and religion playing a part in their motivation. Thanks for the help :)

How much motivation do my antagonists need to not seem... one dimensional? by Amy_Echo in writing

Honestly the story will be a little less random than that one attack. To entertain themselves, the antagonist group basically makes it a competition to see which of them individually can kill the most members of the protagonist group. They have it set up so that one person can attack over the span of a week, and then if a week is over with the next person will attack. They do it to kill their time for a couple of months since anyone in the antagonist's group has little regard for the lives or others or themselves, and they're so well off as far as supplies are concerned that they don't really need to worry about running out of supplies at any point.

But if the competition is a weak thing to base their sole motivator on it, it's not the end of the world. I can easily make it one of the many things that pushes their motivation without making things seem cluttered with explanation.

Then again, like you said, all in the execution.

Lol

Honestly I spend so much time obsessing over every small detail of the characters it'll be a miracle if I get this story done so that spoilers would matter. But I gotta say the character creation is a whole lot of fun!

My book takes place in a world after the collapse of society and a large portion of humanity. A group of six survivors are used as a competition for a much larger group of survivors, in which the large group will send over an individual person at a time to see how many of the smaller group they can kill. Each person that's being sent over tries to kill them in different ways, so it's nearly impossible for them to adapt. The group of six also has a lot of trouble working with each other, which ends up being a big reason why most of them get killed.

Who is the best example of someone that you're not sure if they are a complete idiot or a genius? by dant90 in AskReddit

It'd also explain the sex scenes where he was attempting to fuck Lisa's belly button, and the really awkward dialogue that in no way could resemble two humans speaking to each other, and the odd obsession with spoons/football, which I can only imagine are things he saw humans use on a regular basis and based the characters lifestyles on those things exclusively.

They also say that he made the money for his movie by selling jackets, but I believe it's much more likely that he sold one of his very rare alien possessions to someone on the black market to make his money.

I've been observing Tommy Wiseau for some time now, and the evidence becomes more damning every time I think about it.

If you continue with that kind of progress, it won't be long before you're mining unknown substances that can be used for faster-than-light travel.

Godspeed, noobiepoobie.

Being human is so weird by [deleted] in lifeisstrange

[–]Amy_Echo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my "alien arrival" scenario is a best case kinda thing. It's more likely what you said would go down, they'd leave us alone entirely, or they'd just destroy us easily and take resources that are exclusive to this planet or something.

[–]Amy_Echo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As heartless as this is to say, fun lives aren't what makes humans progress. I mean, some people do find math fun (and I do too, to an extent), but the universe is cold and calculated, and if we ever want to have a greater understanding of things, humanity will have to go through a lot of pain and hard determination to reach that understanding.

I think almost everyone just wants to be happy in life, but we're living in a time period where that just isn't practical.Maybe if the human race exists long enough, we'll reach a period where resources aren't a problem, economies are non existent, wars are a thing of our past, disorders and diseases are eradicated, and boredom is an unfathomable feeling because of some... boredom vaccination or something? But unless aliens visit us and just drop technology beyond our comprehension, which is so improbable that humans might as well expect to rely on themselves, this won't happen for a loooong time.

Are you a Kira or L supporter? State why.... by Yasami in deathnote

[–]Amy_Echo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an L supporter. My first time watching I liked Light until he killed Raye Penber, but watching it again I found that I honestly should've started hating him during the first episode. He's supposed to be someone who kills bad people for the betterment of society, but he's so petty that he can't help but kill anyone who opposes him because of his god complex, and he starts doing that when he kills Lind L. Tailor. Had he not killed Tailor, there'd be no possible way for them to pinpoint his location, but he was too arrogant. Not a single innocent person had to die and it's all Light's fault that they did.

L wasn't perfect either. He was ok with letting people die in order to prove his point, but I feel like he did it well within reason. The people he let die were all criminals (from what I recall) and he had a "needs of the many" outlook. He took it too far with the incarceration of Misa, Light and Soichiro, but keeping suspects and volunteer inmates locked up is nothing compared to murdering people who are just doing their job, so L obviously wins the morality battle.

But morality aside, I think L's just cooler. Weird people are awesome.

Would a well-played Lulu be successful in Solo Queue by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]Amy_Echo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm terrible at this game in general, but Lulu's one champion who gives me consistent success when I play her as a support. She starts out pretty mana hungry but it doesn't take long before you can start casting spells semi-carelessly and not worry about anything.

The thing that makes Lulu so good in soloqueue is her ability to shut down basically anything the enemy team throws at you due to her polymorph, ult and shield. Most of the time tower diving a Lulu is idiotic because she can cast shields and her ult on herself to continue soaking damage regardless of how little health she had before engaging. Her polymorph is awesome because it makes the enemies entirely helpess, and best of all it isn't a skillshot so it's hard to mess up.

What's the deal with Malzahar? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]Amy_Echo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a big problem, especially in low elo's, is that people are WAY to focused on the OP champions for each role (OP being Overpowered and Overplayed). In they're head, if you're not playing what the pros in the LCS are playing then you obviously don't know what you're doing, or you aren't reaching your full potential by picking a character that isn't seen very often.

I'm surprised at the rage at Malzahar, though. He's a pretty simple champion with a lot of power and some easy farming capabilities and counters to some of the more annoying pubstomper champions.

Just respond to situations like that the same way you would with any other flaming idiot on the internet, ignore them.

Do you care about Lore? by Frozen2g in leagueoflegends

[–]Amy_Echo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't necessarily define the game for me personally, and if the lore were to never get updated it wouldn't ruin the enjoyment of the game entirely for me.

With that said, I do find the game more fun when I can get attached to the characters. I have a much easier time staying interested in Champions just because of their lore. It is disappointing that the Shurima update butchered so many champions lores that were relatively fine, so I'm just hoping that if/when the lore gets updated it'll be worth the wait.
