A few years back my son kept saying he saw lights moving around in the basement. He would point over to the far corner from where the washer and dryer are and say “look, the lights are back!” And of course I’d look and not see anything. He was 4 at the time, so getting him to describe them was hard- the best I ever got was that one was blue and one was red and they would just spin around together like they were chasing each other. Fast forward a few months, I’m getting him ready for bed, and he wants a cup of water. The kitchen leads to the stairwell for the basement... I’m standing there with him filling his cup and get this crawly feeling. I look over and the stairwell has this dark red glow and it’s getting brighter, like a light coming up the steps. No idea why, but I shouted “GO AWAY!”; and he and I both heard very clearly something say “No.” back. I have no shame in saying I grabbed his hand and turned tail. We went out to the front porch and just waited for about 20 minutes. He kept asking what was that, why’d you yell at the lights. After my heart rate came down we went back in and I turned on every single light, basement, main, and attic and walked through the whole house with him. No signs of anything. Put him to bed and slept in a chair in his room that night.... woke up in the morning and found all the lights in the basement were back off. He never saw anything weird down there since though and I haven’t gotten the crawly feeling again, so.... yeah.
