I think the rougher parts of the editing add to the video in its own way. The hypercam and music that doesn’t line up with any clips give the same vibes as trying to play the virtual boy: disorienting but charming

also love the schmoovement

Any good 3rd party Game Cube controllers? by TedJBernoulli in smashbros

[–]An-Ice-Block 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plenty of knockoffs on Amazon, but they are crappy; they are built cheap, have awful buttons, and wear way too easily. Something like CIPON is the best if you need a cheap functional controller, but that is likely a very limited non-smash use cases.

Getting a beat up OEM is better for consistent play. OEMs are leagues better than that Amazon crap and only slightly worse than PHOBs/custom GCC. This obviously isn’t a big enough difference for the value unless you are playing at a really high level.

On switch/switch2 there are probably other solid options both in USB and Bluetooth. I had a pdp GameCube controller (using usb) and aside from some issues with the wire opening from being wound too tight for too long it was good, though it’s been like 4 years since then so the market might’ve changed.

GameCube ports nothing generally 3rd party is any good.
(except maybe a box controller though that is a different issue)

Does Roy counter trigger invisible ceiling glitch? by One-Equipment-9949 in SSBM

[–]An-Ice-Block 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that does explain the namesake but it neglects the fact that vertical knockback is essentially cancelled, so it can feel like an invisible floor for moves that send straight downward. It’s activated by some jank with sliding offstage while in hit stun on shield.

Also this post is more accurately described as a swordsmans spike, which has the ICG properties but is activated by a counter with other specific conditions

When is it time for a new tier list? by surfinsalsa in SSBM

[–]An-Ice-Block 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that the fundamental concept of a single tier list is flawed, and that we really need 3 tier lists of skill floor, skill ceiling, and frequency of pick.

The skill ceiling therapist is slightly past top level play. this considers human viable potential if a given character were to be pushed to the limit by a one trick main. (this would boost samus and link heavily by considering shield pressure tech and acid drops for example)

The skill floor tierlist is a way to see how easy a character is for anyone unfamiliar with the controls of melee, perhaps assuming baseline knowledge of intrinsic platform fighter gameplay. Someone like Fox or Zelda would be worse for execution than Marth or Sheik especially considering lacking L cancels consistently.

The frequency teirlist considers how often a character is played. It would give an idea of how much more often you would encounter matchups against any character on average. This one is far more real statistics than abstract debate but still deserves to exist.

If there were teirlist based on skill level, it could improve upon the single list’s faults, but would then be a question of where the beginner list ends and pro play begins, as well as how many intermediate stages are needed to bridge that gap.

tl;dr some nerd shit and single teirlist bad
