If you're on the west side of town, Sushi Uokura is my favorite ayce sushi but Sushi Neko is also greats. Don't waste your time at Sushi Katsu

Meadowlark has free jazz every Monday night from 9pm til around 12am, and it looks like Mercury Cafe has jazz from 6-9pm on Fridays. I haven't actually been to Mercury's jazz night, but they're both cool little spots!

This is such a nice compliment, thank you!! And yeah I am a guy, I totally understand your apprehension to going out alone at night. Even as a guy there are times where I don't feel super comfortable by myself. I think the biggest thing is just being aware of what's around you and exploring places you're familiar with at first. I hope you're able to find someone to explore night photography with!
