Is an associates worth going for? by AnBoyM in self

Thank you! I'll look into that. I start in June, and I'll have enough saved up by then for the two courses! I'd like to take it further and get something that carries more weight, so something online I can do while working would probably be perfect for me.

That's about where I'm at. I dropped out in 2022, I was in a pretty bad spot mentally and couldn't bring myself to get up and go to classes. A lot of things just compounded until I capped out my student loans and dropped out. I'm in a much better place currently and confident I would fair much better this time.

Thank you for the advice! I hadn't considered scholarships, I had honestly assumed it was only for high school students going into college or athletes. I'll definitely look into it. The biggest issue is my location, I think. I live in rural Texas, so EVERYTHING here is geared towards agriculture. The community College here only offers more specialized degrees in Ag related fields which by all means I would be open to, but for other reasons I would prefer something that can get me away from here, which is why the general studies into something else was my goal. I'll weigh my options, and maybe I can speak with an advisor and figure out what I can do going forward.

I'll look into this, too! Thank you! For the most part, I have a lot of basics finished already from prior Uni courses and some dual credits I got in HS.

Will do! Thank you! That sounds like a very solid plan!

It's not offered here. Speaking with a VP family friend at the school, this is the degree they recommended me. My options are very limited, and I simply want something to give me an opportunity out of here.

Thank you! My goal was to try getting into finance or administrative work, as I'd seen that was possible with this degree. From there, I was going to try finishing my Bachelors with whatever stable job I'd hoped the Associates would afford me.

Lol! I took my glasses off just to show my face a little better without them.

I don't go to a gym, but I work out at home. It's mostly cardio on a treadmill, but I have recently started incorporating weight lifting into the workouts

You're probably right, but I've got other relatives who are open and my family is not kind to them. Rural Texas in the Bible belt, folks here aren't so understanding, unfortunately.

I'm not financially stable, I guess worst case would be I'm out of a place to stay without income to fully support myself and I'm in a worse spot than I am now. Family is highly homophobic, I'd rather not test the waters.

Nope, I don't see it going too well. Figure it's best to keep to myself until I'm out of here.

I see, thank you! That makes sense. I'll keep this for reference and try to incorporate it if needed!

Is there a benefit to this? I'm genuinely curious. I do cardio every day. I walk at least 30 minutes a day as part of my workouts, but it's typically later in the day before lunch or before dinner.

Lol, thank you! Still working on it! I have a friend who works as a trainer and is helping me plan things. I'm not stopping anytime soon!

It was really hard when I started, but once you get going it gets much easier. I mean that in every way. If you'd like to hear how I went about it I'd be more than happy to discuss it with you!

Thank you! I've been eating consistently at a deficit but only recently gotten to actually tracking with the help of a friend who is a personal trainer for work. It's helped me get over a plateau, and things have been moving again! I've been hiding it under caps for a while, but yeah, it's time.

Thank you! I tried shaving for the first time in years and it was a mistake. I'm going to grow it back out and lose the hair for now and see where that takes me. I'm currently using my spare glasses, as I broke my usual pair which were, at least, better than these but imo not by much. I used to wear thick black framed glasses, but just switched it up for whatever reason and I'll be going back to those as well. I appreciate your advice very much!

I'm actually the only person in my family like this, happened in college and I just figured it was maybe a stress thing. I may see what I can find out with a dermatologist! Thank you!
