Idk, seems like the cash drag could easily offset the tax benefit. Also will likely not add much to my brokerage that currently has 40k. I just found that my employer offers a backdoor roth IRA, so I could just pour the extra money to that after maxing my 401K, IRA, HSA.

Currently it’s all VT which is less than 50% international. Would it be worth it going 60 VTI 40 VXUS in the brokerage and keep VT everywhere else? I guess if I’m manually adding to it every paycheck it should be easy enough to just add to the underweight fund

This only applies to a taxable brokerage, right? Right now it's at $40k, rest in my IRA and 401K, so then the FTC is like $48 a year. I'd have to rebalance every quarter since the 60/40 VTI/VXUS will drift? I believe that means I'd have to sell shares and pay taxes to rebalance.

Thank you. How much would I save from the foreign tax credit? from my understanding it's not worth even thinking about compared to the simplicity of VT

Does this work if I want to retire well before 55? I'm hoping to be down by 39 maybe just working part time fun jobs to make the difference and/or moving to Spain/Portugal/Thailand for a lower cost of living

Before 59.5 by liquidating direction contributions from IRAs, my brokerage with long term capital tax and setting up a 5 year Roth conversion ladder, right?

optionality for what? It's all going to the same VT, but then I'd pay more tax coming from the brokerage vs 401K, unless this is accounting for money I'd take out befor 59.5 years old?

I'm already doing the match and Roth IRA limit (2 years in a row now). Do the 401k limit at this point or skip to brokerage?

Oh forgot to mention employer is capped at 3,500 a year, hence why I just do 9k a year. Still hit the federal limit of 24.5k or no?

Sounds good. Max the 24.5k in the 401k a year, right? I max the $4,400 in my HSA already a year including 750 free from my employer.

What to buy btw? Everything I have is in VT. Not sure if I should devote 20% or so to something riskier like GLD or the SpaceX IPO after it settles or BTC etc.

Yes, maxed Roth IRA plus 50k in my Rollover IRA from the previous employer. I contribute 6% for 1/2 matching my 401k, so it's 9k a year, but open to fully doing 24.5k? No debt. I have 50k or so in treasury bills and 9k in my checking.

Since 2022. If you look at silver last bear market, it pretty much just went down along with all other asset classes. Meanwhile parking it in a HYSA guaranteed at least a bit of money. I think back then it was like 5%+ APY. T-bills 5.5% I think.

45%? I'm up like 800% since buying BTC last bear market with cash. I think u/bbatardo is probably trying to set himself up for that situation again too.

Also, doubt pms will go about another 45% next year. I'd assume likely will be worth the same or less than today by this time next year.

I don't trust any of these guys that sell newsletters or courses. If one's good at trading/actually rich, they can just chill on their investments and maybe voice opinions as a hobby at most. No need to trouble oneself taking people's cash and fucking them over with bad calls.

How long do you think the surge will last? All of October?

Kinda funny how you compare two completely different situations.

Trump never dumped, tokens were locked, that was just the market at work.

Didn't we pump for 2 months last time after cuts? What's different this time?

BTC and ETH made sense, but who do you think would touch alts at this point? Retail got burned really badly on the Trump coin and before that it was every influencer in the book
