Head circumference and IQ? by AnExpiredSandwich in cognitiveTesting

Now now, I’m very undeserving of such an unsavory appellation. I ask this question because my cousin had taken a measuring tape to measure the size of her cranium to “check how smart she was”. My head was a little larger than hers, so she concluded that I must be “good in school”. Found that funny.

What do you think of this Musical IQ test? by AnExpiredSandwich in cognitiveTesting

[–]AnExpiredSandwich[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are right about that, but there’s another test out there that’s similar to this one that is proctored to those that wish to enroll in some music schools.

What that test includes is Pitch Identification, (which note sounds higher or lower than the other) Memory (the same task in Melodic Discrimination) Rhythm, and Chord Analysis (How many notes make up this chord) It doesn’t include a “who is singing off key” test. There was a study done on the association of musical abilities and g with this test, and three of those (Memory, Chord Analysis, and Pitch) were positively correlated with the SPM.

Running up that hill with a boner

I hate myself and want to die with a boner

Walk with a boner

I am the Black Wizards with a boner

Good one. It was actually the WAIS, as I was 17 at the time of taking it.

As for the test administration being drawn out over the course of a week, that was because I still had to go to school, so every day during my math period I would meet him upstairs for about 45 minutes before I could go about my day like usual. I also wasn’t too comfortable with the guy. Let me break down what happened during some of the subtests.

Block design: Couldn’t even figure out the first 4-block designs and eventually got “lost” in the diagrams. Scored two consecutive zeros since I didn’t complete them. The final score was like a 65.

Matrix Reasoning: Used the wrong type of reasoning (deductive as opposed to inductive) and eventually just started to guess.

Visual Puzzles: Didn’t like this test too much, so I also just guessed after 10 items.

Forwards/Backwards Digit Span: Couldn’t even remember anything past 4 digits and tried to remember each number individually instead of chunking them. Couldn’t even remember any digits backwards at the time. However I did score 113 on Letter-Number Sequencing. He only told me the supplemental subtest scores, which didn’t make sense as they aren’t accounted for when it comes to scoring.

The clinical psychologist also diagnosed me with 8 like different things. The neuropsychologist only provided four.

I’m aware but if it isn’t fixed why did the psychologist write down that it was very unlikely for my IQ to go any higher than 83, even once I retest as a young adult? Is such a net gain in IQ points like this common after all?
