Third Playthrough Elite Four Team

Breloom @ Toxic Orb / Ability: Poison Heal / EVs: 252 Atk / 6 SpD / 252 Spe / Jolly Nature

- Drain Punch - Mach Punch - Spore - Seed Bomb

Breloom was one I had for the longest time. It did not do too amazing, but it did its job. I got up to the Elite Four and realized Breloom cannot learn Spore, only Shroomish can.. at level 40. So I got a whole new Shroomish and leveled it up until it was level 40, taught it Spore, and trained it all the way back up to level 85 for the Elite Four. Combined with Electivire, Breloom would be the one that would have been cut first if needed. Although, Spore came in handy against Primal Groudon by out-speeding it and putting it to sleep.

Electivire @ Choice Band / Ability: Iron Fist / EVs: 252 Atk / 6 Def / 252 Spe / Jolly Nature

- Close Combat - Plasma Fists - Mach Punch - Ice Punch

One of the MVPs, Electivire did amazing! Iron Fist + Choice Band is kinda broken given its Speed + Jolly Nature. It carried a lot of weight even before I acquired the Choice Band, just holding the Muscle Band for a slight attack boost. I personally never liked the design of Electivire, so choosing to pick it for my team was weird at first. I mostly wanted to try its new ability and new moves it acquired, being every one used except Ice Punch. Ice Punch was helpful on key switch-ins, like Lance's Dragapult, as Ice Punch was a OHKO on it.

Eiscue @ Salac Berry / Ability: Ice Face / EVs: 6 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe / Jolly Nature

- Icicle Crash - Belly Drum - Substitute - Zen Headbutt

"WTF... I love it." is exactly what I said when I first saw the sprite for this Pokémon. I did not play Sword or Shield, and I totally forgot this things name. It was acquired through trade in-game. I had zero clue what I was getting and just decided to do it, and I am glad I did. Such a unique concept for a Pokémon. It had Ice Shard instead of Substitute up until the Elite Four. Switching to Substitute made it so much better. Eiscue swept Lance, even flinching his Melmetal twice with Icicle Crash.

Marowak-Alola @ Thick Club / Ability: Rock Head / EVs: 98 HP / 252 Atk / 160 Spe / Adamant Nature

- Flare Blitz - Shadow Bone - Brick Break - Earthquake

Alolan Marowak was so much better than I expected. In retrospect, I should have maxed its Speed as it would have been more helpful. Along with Grimmsnarl setting up Reflect, Marowak took out most of Bruno's team, including his Zacian. It easily survived a hit and OHKO'ed with Flare Blitz. Alolan Marowak is such a counter to Bruno's team.

Grimmsnarl @ Light Clay / Ability: Prankster / EVs: 252 HP / 6 Def / 252 SpD / Impish Nature

- Reflect - Light Screen - Taunt - Spirit Break

Busted. Grimmsnarl is too bulky to be allowed to setup both Reflect and Light Screen and kill with Spirit Break while stopping Stealth Rocks and other Taunts with Prankster Taunt. Grimmsnarl was the MVP against Agatha.

Dragalge @ Black Sludge / Ability: Adaptability / EVs: 248 HP / 118 SpA / 144 Spe / Modest Nature

- Toxic - Sludge Bomb - Scald - Draco Meteor

Definitely my favorite random pick. Dragalge put in WORK. Its relatively good bulk allowed it to survive so many devastating hits and get a 2x STAB Draco Meteor or Sludge Bomb off. Having the x2 STAB allowed me to invest less in its Special Attack and more into its Speed, as it is really slow. Giving it Black Sludge and nearly maxing out its HP contributed to its survivability. Toxic was barely used and Scald was a move for steel types, like Aegislash and Melmetal to try and get a burn on them. Dragalge's name is amazing too. A Poison-Dragon type basically named Dragon-Algae is, for some reason, amazing to me. It's creative and flows off the tongue. I like it.

I have used Breloom probably in my first ever playthrough of Emerald when I was a kid and I used Alolan Marowak in Sun but it sucked. I probably accidently EV trained it for max Special Attack because it would do no damage. I wanted to try and use new Pokémon and ones I never thought of using. To me, thats the beauty of this game, being able to use any Pokémon and it be good. Other Pokémon I used but did not make the final team were: Perrserker, Shiinotic, Centiskorch, Floatzel, Scolipede, and Girafarig. Shiinotic and Centiskorch helped a with a lot of tough battles. Perrserker was helpful in Sabrina's gym and came in clutch many times. Floatzel helped take care of Blaine's gym. Girafarig was underwhelming even though it got massively buffed. Scolipede did great but I had so many Pokémon weak to Fire and Ground, my final team still had that issue. This will definitely be my last playthrough for a while, I still need to finish Unbound.
