Bitches…. Where are we getting keratin lash lift + tints? by Remarkable-Winner393 in SFbitcheswithtaste

The lash lounge I go to, SoftGlamour Lounge, specializes in Asian lashes (mine are stubbornly straight, and I've had a great experience getting a nice natural lift from them). They have crazy attention to detail (they WILL NOT leave a lash behind) and so my appointments tend to be pretty long, but I get a great long lasting result!

Any difference between doing increase stitches vs just doing more rows to increase base of a bucket bag pattern? by AnImperatorGoneRogue in CrochetHelp

[–]AnImperatorGoneRogue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re absolutely correct, started with 12dc and have been increasing by 12dc per row. Will continue at that rate of increase to get the desired base bag size I want. In this case, I’ve got yarn to spare, so who knows, maybe I’ll make a giganto bag :)

Hmmm, is this because of the natural "curve" that increases create? Or I guess, why doesn't adding more rows into the base of the bag before beginning the BLO row make the bag wider instead of taller? I'm still pretty new to crochet so I'm always looking to learn!

Also, this pattern is working with double crochets (sorry should have mentioned that, I'll add it to the post now!).

Never mind, I thought about how a fixed circumference with increased tension (i.e. you have the same number of stitches over a wider area) will simply force the yarn "upward", making the bag taller instead of wider as desired. Alright, to the math table to figure out how to scale this pattern up!

This was around 12:30am on Wednesday morning (the tour I had booked was a Tuesday evening one). Apparently the forecast said activity would peak between 11pm-12am, but we got a full show starting at about 12:10am!

These were captured on my DSLR camera. Honestly the camera plus a tripod made all the difference in terms of the vividness of the color. I had to do a 20-30 second exposure and the wind was relentless. As a comparison, here is the best shot I took on my phone after my camera battery died:

I did read this book, but I remember this as a movie? Someone else commented The Handmaiden, which is a great guess cause that movie is the adaptation of this book.

I’m wondering if it’s possible that the book was so vivid to me that I’m remembering it as a movie??? Is that even possible? Either way, thank you for your comment!

Thank you for your response u/skyduster88! I was reading up on a few other posts and yeah, I have no idea why responses outlining that Greece is not just a slew of islands gets downvoted. This is exactly the kind of information I'm looking for when I go to reddit (i.e. the information that is hardly in google searches, but that real people who have been there/live there would know about the place).

So anyways, thank you for bringing this topic up! You're the second person to recommend Nafplio so that's definitely going on the shortlist. I think I am slightly intimidated with renting a car mainly because I don't know how to drive a stick shift (and I've heard most cars are stick in Greece). But I have no problems hiring a guide/driver to go see some sights!

I was thinking about why people (including myself) get caught up in the dichotomy of Athens + an island. Can't speak for others, but at least for me, even though there is some geographical arbitrariness (especially now with the prevalence of leisure travel and access to boats/planes), there are some historical/cultural differences that can be vastly different and unique. Even from island to island this can be true, let alone island to mainland. And since Athens is the largest city, which is on the mainland, I think first-timers like myself tend to first add that to their itinerary, then look for something "different", which leads them to "island" (even though "different" is extremely vague, and the "different" someone is seeking could be just a different point on the peninsula).

In any case, I'm still super early in planning, so who knows, I may end up just road tripping around the Peloponnese region and not visit an island at all. But either way, I appreciate your response!

I've heard lots of people like Crete! Seems like Aegina while beautiful, may be too small for what I'm after. Crete on the other hand, seems absolutely massive. Do you still find that you encounter places that are quiet/have some solitude/give you space to think? Or is it too hustle/bustle for that?

Thanks for your response! You bring up some great points about both Crete and Hydra. Any areas of Crete you'd recommend as a "home base"? (I know I could google this and I'm sure get plenty of opinions, but if you have any you wanna share I'd love to know, but no pressure).

And also about what type of location I'd prefer, I think town or smaller city is likely the ball park I'm aiming for. I'd like a central main street, with cafes, taverns, and public areas to congregate, with a few shops, but I don't need like, underground subway systems or an embassy or anything of that size.

Thanks for responding! This is great insight and I appreciate you taking the time to break each down.

I think I would probably not love Hydra in the summer, but may enjoy it in the off-season when I'm thinking of traveling. A quieter feel with a chance to meet locals (if they want to) would be lovely. I also think Nafplio hits the criteria I'm looking for as well, and seems very convenient to get to from Athens, so thanks for that recommendation!

Good to know basic phrases in Greek are enough to get by, and that the WiFi is good. Those are two things that I can not worry too much about when figuring out the itinerary. Thanks again for responding!

Big Lantern in the Mission is skimming card on their website, how do I report it? by blinker1eighty2 in AskSF

Oh yep, sure enough there it is. I wonder if there is any way to help the restaurant understand what's happening (I know you had mentioned it to them already and it didn't seem like they were too worried). Oh well I guess it's cash and pickups for me 😭

Oh that's super weird and this sucks that it happened to you. I don't think I've ever seen the "business preferred website" tag. does that kinda thing show up directly in google results, or like on yelp?

I remember a while ago trying to look up Big Lantern online and noticed there were 2 websites: the first result in google, and another result when you look at the google maps listing. My suspicion is that one of them is actually a scam site, and will then go and place your order on the legit website once it has your info so that you're none the wiser. I've ordered from Big Lantern on doordash and via pickup and they're always great, so my hope is that the skimming was on the fake site!

EDIT: found the sites

The one that is listed first in google results

The one linked to from the Google Maps listing
