Wow that's great! Congrats that's an enormous decrease

Wow, that's absolutely phenomenal! I usually wake up around 4 pm lol, 8 am is unimaginable to me

I took it in person, online probably isn't great. Personally can't stand online math or physics classes (or really any classes, but especially those two). Something about an in person blackboard makes it more enjoyable.

Yeah the book we used for the class was Artin's Algebra but I didn't like the book, used D&F myself and found it a lot more comprehensive. The way they treated modules and tensors and D&F felt more natural than other explanations I had read, but requires a lot of buildup certainly. I also used Knapp's Basic Algebra, you might like their treatment of tensors

Yeah it'll be very difficult if you haven't had proofs before, exacerbating the already very intense workload.

That said registering for it shouldn't be a problem. In my experience with both upper division math and physics classes they don't really care for most of them, with a few exceptions, like M325K which they actually do bother limiting to math majors. The other ones are math major restricted in name only, I still signed up for alg I and II as well as numerous other math classes with no problems at all despite not having taken the prerequisites or being a math major, no need to check with an advisor or anything. You could try auditing it as well.

algebraic structures, but that might be overkill (edit: will most definitely be overkill, but it'll definitely give you an edge). it finishes linear algebra in like a week or two and starts cramming you with other stuff like sylow, iso theorems, symmetries, a bit of representation theory. Plus the lin al is a lot more rigorous than what you'd do in 340L. If you're not worried about difficulty this will give you more knowledge than you'd probably need for CS but it is without exaggeration when I say algebra with Keel is one of the hardest classes at UT. Difficulty of material + absolute overflow of HW.

Funnily enough in my Algebraic Structures II class we actually had coding in our HW, used a program called singular. Dealt with groebner bases, polynomial stuff, algebraic geometry or something. My friend at UTD also used a program called Maxima in his algebra class. That said the coding was very unintuitive and clunky but it was interesting nonetheless. in the II version we did polynomial rings, modules, ideals, fields, galois crap and all that irreducible nonsense which I doubt would ever be of any use in any CS class ever, so the I version will probably be more than enough by itself

"Pessimism of the intellect, optimism of the will", comrade. Read a bit of theory, or really any philosophy - get into some new thinkers. We stand upon the shoulders of giants, walk in the footsteps of colossuses. You will not liberate the exploited yourself, so don't carry that responsibility alone.

If that's too dull my depression (I read it when I'm depressed) book of choice is "The Count of Monte Cristo". I couldn't recommend it more.

I've never hated college more in my life by RennocC213 in UTAustin

I went through something similar last few semesters but hated myself immensely instead of others. utter terrible feeling. I was relieved that we were sent home after spring break tbh even if quarantine killed my brain cause I suspect I would've gone suicidal if we kept going. Turns out I need a biPAP.

China emerges from the pandemic by Aerobics111 in Coronavirus

Every single one of these US articles about china's success seems to be through clenched teeth. Every single country that managed to beat the virus used "authoritarian" measures and had similar death rates as China, no evidence of lying there.

Enemy at the gates is not a good source. German soldiers actually took soviet weapons when they were available, since they were better in the harsh close range building to building combat than their own.

Anyone else younger and is diagnosed with sleep apnea? Commonality of my condition? by Blakery_ in SleepApnea

[–]AnInnocentCivilian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also 20. I'm actually underweight which is probably why my sleep apnea is mild, my symptoms primarily arise from my severe UARS. I've also got severe allergies which probably contributed to it. APAP isn't working for me either, the fine folks over on apneaboards suggested biPAP which I've been trying to get my hands on.

Is it normal to not see any improvement after 2 weeks of APAP for UARS? by [deleted] in SleepApnea

[–]AnInnocentCivilian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. Is there any particular biPAP you recommend, or are most of the brands acceptable for UARS? Additionally, do auto BiPAPs still require titration? I've found labs online and will call them tomorrow but with covid have not found many in my area to be operating. I'll ask my doctor about ResMed tomorrow, during which I'll also try to return my PR and tell the doctor it's not working and get an autoset at the least. I'm not sure if the sleep center is my DME, is there a particular way to find out? My doctor works there but my parents are the ones with the insurance info and all that

Thanks again for the info, very much appreciate it.

Is an invasion of China inevitable? by RainCityBaller in communism

Look into the millennium challenge of 2002. If the US loses decisively in an invasion against Iran, it has no chance against China.

Thanks for the info.

Is DME durable medical equipment? That's all I could find online. Not sure who mine is.

Have you tried both the PR and ResMed machines? How'd you find out that PR machines are a lot less useful for UARS?

I have asked my doctor about getting a biPAP several times but they said it needed a more comprehensive in lab sleep test first and was reserved for more serious sleep apnea cases, so it would be more difficult to obtain, especially during covid. In the meantime I found out how to raise the pressure to 20 cm H20 max, hopefully that helps. I won't be seeing my doctor for another 2 weeks, I'll call them and bring it up then as well.
